    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a message indicating a common pool of resources for a random access channel (RACH). The UE may initiate a random access by transmitting, to the base station, a first RACH preamble in a RACH occasion within a subset of the common pool of resources. The subset is selected based at least in part on a use case that triggered the random access. In some aspects, the UE may transmit an initial RACH preamble and/or a RACH pay load in order to activate the subset. As an alternative, the UE may transmit an initial RACH preamble and/or a RACH payload in order to receive an indication of the subset for the use case that triggered the random access. Numerous other aspects are described.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a random access channel (RACH) occasion (RO) configuration that includes information related to ordered preamble resources. The UE may generate a preamble resource index according to various parameters selected based on the RO configuration information that relates to the ordered preamble resources. The UE may generate an uplink RACH message that includes a preamble based at least in part on the preamble resource index and a payload associated with a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource unit (PRU) mapped to the preamble resource index. After decoding the uplink RACH message, the base station may send a response message including scrambled downlink control information (e.g., based on a scrambling identifier or payload information associated with the uplink RACH message).     Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless positioning. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) transmits an uplink reference signal towards a first reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) associated with at least one base station, receives, from the first RIS, a reflection of the uplink reference signal, wherein at least one transmission parameter of the reflection identifies the reflection as the reflection of the uplink reference signal, and enables a distance between the UE and the first RIS to be calculated based, at least in part, on a transmission-to-reception (Tx-Rx) time difference measurement for the UE, the Tx-Rx time difference measurement representing a difference between a transmission time from the UE of the uplink reference signal to the first RIS and a reception time at the UE of the reflection of the uplink reference signal from the first RIS.
