摘要： A fixer (heater) includes a heat roller and a pressure roller pressing each other. The fixer heats a heated material by passing the heated material through a press region where the heat roller and the pressure roller meet. The fixer further includes an external heat roller heating the pressure roller from outside the pressure roller. A transit time taken for any given point on the heated material to pass through the press region is less than or equal to 2.3×10−2 sec. The surface temperature, T1 (° C.), of the heat roller and the surface temperature, T2 (° C.), of the pressure roller satisfy T1-T2≦100 (° C.), and preferably satisfy T1-T2≦70 (° C.). The load on the heat roller is reduced, and so is the power consumption.

摘要： A fixing device comprising a fix member for touching an unfixed image on a recording medium, and a press member for being pressed against the fixing member, so as to fix the unfixed image on the recording medium by transporting the recording medium through a nip between the fix member and the press member, wherein (100·K1)≦(K2)≦(320·K1) where K1 is a heat transmission coefficient of the press member and K2 is a heat transmission coefficient of the fix member. With this arrangement, it is possible to transmit heat to toner and the recording medium in a short time. Thus, it is possible to attain high-speed printing.

摘要： A device for utilizing waste heat from a heat engine comprises a Rankine cycle including a pump, a heating device, an expansion device, and a condenser device, and a controller for controlling an operation of the Rankine cycle. The controller calculates an optimum heat collection amount (Qho) as a heat value to be collected from waste heat of the engine, wherein the heat collection amount (Qho) is calculated as an optimum amount in relation to a potential maximum heat radiation amount (Qco) to be radiated at the condenser device. The controller calculates an optimum flow amount (G) of refrigerant corresponding to the optimum heat collection amount (Qho), so that a maximum driving power (L) is generated at the expansion device.

A guide shaft and a feed screw are disposed side by side. an engagement part of a coupling member is held in radial and elastically forced contact with the feed screw. With rotation of the feed screw, the coupling member is thus advanced and retreated in the axial directions of the feed screw. A pick-up seat carrying a pick-up is caused to follow the coupling member for advancement and retreat along the guide shaft. The coupling member is mounted on the guide shaft for rocking movement and axial advancement and retreat. The coupling member has a pair of clamping pieces clamping the feed screw from the opposite sides in the direction of rocking movement. The engagement part is formed on one of the clamping members.
