摘要: In a toroidal type continuously variable transmission, first pivot shafts provided on both ends of first trunnions are supported within support holes formed in yokes secured to an inner surface of a casing. The support portions are provided with ball splines and radial needle bearings. During operation, loads acting on the first trunnions are cancelled within the yokes. Axial displacements and rocking displacements of the first trunnions are effected smoothly by the ball splines and the radial needle bearings.

摘要: An object of the invention is to facilitate processing and to obtain sliders as many as possible when the sliders for thin-film magnetic heads are manufactured through the use of a circular-plate-shaped wafer in which a plurality of rows of sections to be the sliders are aligned. The circular-plate-shaped wafer includes the rows of the sections to be the sliders aligned in one orientation. Each of the sections to be the sliders includes a thin-film magnetic head element. Three types of slider materials having different widths are cut out from the wafer. Each of the three types of slider materials includes rows of the sections to be the sliders. Processing including lapping is performed on a surface to be medium facing surfaces of each of the three types of slider materials. The materials are then separated to form slider aggregates each of which includes one of the rows of the sections to be the sliders. Rails are formed in a surface to be the medium facing surfaces of the slider aggregates. The slider aggregates are then separated.

摘要: Data transferred from a host computer to a memory device is written into sectors whose addresses in a memory area are decoded by a decode table. Old data to be updated by the above data is erased or marked with erase flags. At a predetermined point of time, in order to create free areas, necessary data is evacuated to a primary memory media and unnecessary data indicated by erase flags is erased by a unit of predetermined memory size. Part of the memory media which has become defective is marked with a defect flag, and is replaced by an alternate area. In doing so, the decode table is rewritten to rearrange the memory area.

摘要: An electron beam drawing process of high throughput, coping with the changes in static distortion and dynamic distortion of a lower layer exposure apparatus or an optical reduction exposure apparatus. At least two marks formed in each chip formed on a wafer are detected for a predetermined number of chips, and the relation between the shape distortion of each chip in the wafer plane and the wafer coordinates is determined from the positions of the detected marks and the designed positions of the marks by a statistical processing. Patterns are drawn in all chips while correcting the patterns to be drawn on the individual chips, by using the relation between the determined chip shape distortion and the wafer coordinates. As a result, the superposition exposure with the lower layer can be achieved with a high throughput and with a high accuracy without any manual adjustment.

摘要: In a continuously variable transmission yokes for supporting pivot shafts provided on the end portions of trunnions are supported for displacement only in the axial direction of the pivot shafts and oscillation in a predetermined direction, relative to a support post fixed to the inner surface of a casing. 摘要: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission improves transmission efficiency. The thrust loads applied to first and second ball-and-roller bearings as a pressing device is actuated are reduced, and the rotational torques of these two ball-and-roller bearings are decreased so as to achieve higher transmission efficiency. When the pressing device is actuated, the inner rings of the first and second ball-and-roller bearings are subjected to thrust loads which act on them to move them toward each other. The thrust loads are reduced by pushing the inner rings in such directions as to move them away from each other by first and second pistons constituting first and second hydraulic cylinders, respectively. Further, a hydraulic force generator is provided between the output bearing and the input bearing; it produces a hydraulic force acting in the opposite direction from that of the reaction force applied to the outer rings of an output bearing and an input bearing, respectively, so as to reduce the thrust loads on the output bearing and the input bearing. A high-pressure oil employed in the hydraulic circuit for speed change control is introduced to the hydraulic force generator.
