Abstract:
A method of finding the prediction direction during intraframe video image coding. The method comprises the following steps: selecting two initial prediction directions (E, S), calculating virtual blocks associated with said initial prediction directions (E, S), comparing said virtual blocks with the current block and selecting the initial prediction direction (E), which is then called the first main direction, calculating virtual blocks associated with the prediction directions (ENE, ESE) immediately adjacent to said first main direction (E), comparing said virtual blocks with the current block to determine the best prediction direction, if the best prediction direction is the first main direction (E) or one direction (ENE) of the immediately adjacent directions situated at one extremity of the set of prediction directions, deciding this best direction is the required prediction direction, otherwise, calculating the virtual block associated with the prediction direction (SE) other than the first main direction (E) that is immediately adjacent to the second main direction (ESE), comparing said virtual blocks with the current block to determine the best prediction direction, if said best prediction direction is said second main direction (ESE) or the immediately adjacent direction (SE) situated at one extremity of the set of prediction directions, deciding that best direction is the required prediction direction, otherwise, continuing the process iteratively until the required prediction direction is found. Application to video coding.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the encoding/decoding of digital signals, especially using transposition codes involving a calculation of combinatorial expressions. According to the invention, the combinatorial expressions are represented by prime factor power decompositions, and determined by a preliminary reading of pre-recorded representations of decompositions of selected whole numbers.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for encoding and decoding image data. The techniques implement a prediction of data of a current block based on at least one already encoded block or reference block, wherein said prediction step takes into account a set of encoded blocks adjacent to said current block and including blocks that have not yet been considered according to said writing path order. Encoding includes the steps of: generating a dependence tree associating a current block with at least one reference block from which the predicted block associated with the current block has been predetermined; and inserting information representative of said dependence tree into said set of data associated with each block.
Abstract:
A telecommunications system provides mobile internet protocol related communications services to mobile nodes via a plurality of access networks that each include an access gateway, a mobility manager operable to receive link quality messages from the mobile nodes providing an indication of a currently available link quality from an access network with which the mobile node is currently affiliated. The mobility manager is also operable to receive application server messages from the application server for managing the communications service with respect to the communications session level. The mobility manager directs a change of affiliation of a first mobile node between one of a first of the access networks and a second of the access networks to the other of the first and second access networks, or a change of communications session level of the first mobile node.
Abstract:
In order to assist the selection of a data stream to be played back on a receiver device from a plurality of data streams received by the receiver device, a plurality of data streams are received in a processor unit simultaneously with auxiliary data respectively associated with said data streams. Then, on the basis of the received auxiliary data, information for assisting selection of what is to be displayed for each data stream is determined. Thereafter, the data streams are linked with the respectively determined selection assistance information. These linked data streams are then transmitted to the receiver device.
Abstract:
A method is provided for attenuating pre-echoes in a digital audio signal generated from a transform encoding, comprising, upon decoding and for a current frame of said digital audio signal: defining a concatenated signal from at least the reconstructed signal of the current frame, dividing said concatenated signal into subunits of samples having a predetermined length, calculating the time envelope of the concatenated signal, detecting the transition of the time envelope towards a high-energy area, determining the low-energy sub-units preceding a subunit in which a transition has been detected, and an attenuation step in said determined subunits. The attenuation is carried out according to an attenuation factor calculated for each of the determined subunits, based on the time envelope of the concatenated signal. The invention also relates to a device for implementing said method, and to a decoder including such a device.

A method of broadcasting data from a multicast source (S) to a plurality of receivers (CL) in a telecommunications network (1) in accordance with a broadcasting strategy, including: a step (E40) of receiving parameters (STAT, AG, CS); a step (E50) of adjusting said strategy as a function of said parameters; and in the event of modification of said strategy, a step (E70) of broadcasting in a multicast signaling channel, an identifier of this new broadcasting strategy.

A method is provided for transmitting a digital signal between at least two transmitters and at least one receiver, using a concatenation of at least two codes. The method includes a first encoding step, in the transmitters, which outputs at least two first code words; a first transmission step of the first code words, via at least two distinct transmission channels; a receiving step, in at least one relay device, of at least two of the first code words, known as intermediate code words; a step of intertwining at least one part of the bits of the intermediate code words that outputs the intertwined bits; a second step of encoding the intertwined bits, in the relay(s), which outputs at least one second code word, taking into consideration the intermediate code words; a second step of transmitting the second code word(s) through the relay device(s), so as to enable, in the receiver(s), an iterative decoding, taking into account the first code words, and then a redundancy formed by the second code word(s).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for coding an OFDM/OQAM-type multi-carrier signal formed by a temporal succession of symbols comprising a set of data elements. Each of the data elements modulates a carrier frequency of the signal. Each of the data elements is formed by adding two real values in quadrature, which each correspond to a binary word of a source signal, which is modulated using a pre-determined modulation constellation, such as to transmit information over a real channel and an imaginary channel of the OFDM/OQAM symbols.

A method and system for a user to obtain a derived value Kr of m bits, in which, given two pseudo-random functions g0 and g1 from m bits to m bits, said user obtains, on the basis of an input parameter consisting of a word r of n bits, a derived value Kr=grn∘ . . . gr2∘gr1 (S), where, for i=1, . . . , n, gri=g0 if ri=0, and gri=g1 if ri=1, and where S is a master value of m bits which is not disclosed to said user. This method comprises the following steps: a search is conducted, from among a set of words of m bits Uj, where j=1, . . . , p, recorded in a table TU and equal to Uj=gvl(j)(j)∘ . . . gv2(j)∘gv1(j) (S), where, for i=1, . . . , l(j), the indices vi(j) are predetermined bits, for a word Uσ equal to Uσ=grl(σ)∘ . . . gr2∘gr1 (S); said derived value Kr is thereafter obtained by calculating Kr=grn∘ . . . gr1(σ)+1 (Uσ).Application to the encryption/decryption of pay-per-use digital contents, and to authentication.
