Abstract: In an electrostatographic copying system wherein an image on an initial image support is transferred to a copy sheet, particularly by a transfer corona generator assisted by an auxiliary transfer corona generator applying pre-transfer charges to the initial image support, opposing conductive rollers measure the conductivity of each copy sheet prior to transfer and through a control circuit vary the voltages applied to both the transfer corona generator and the auxiliary transfer corona generator means accordingly. A relay switching system is disclosed automatically selecting between AC and two levels of DC transfer voltages in response to four different copy sheet humidity conditions to optimize the image transfer.

Abstract: An image-forming apparatus includes first and second photosensitive drums, first and second image-forming portion including first and second development rollers configured to bear developers composed of first and second toner particles and organosilicon protrusions formed on surfaces of the first and second toner particles, an intermediate transfer member to which a developer image is to be transferred in first and second contact portions in contact with the first and second photosensitive drums, and a transfer member configured to transfer the developer image to a recording material in a transfer portion. The first contact portion is formed downstream of the transfer portion and upstream of the second contact portion in a movement direction of the surface of the intermediate transfer member. A protrusion formed on the second developer has a lower height than a protrusion formed on the first developer.

Abstract: A conveyance device includes a first temperature detector and a second temperature detector that detect a temperature of a heater. A recording medium detector detects a recording medium. The first temperature detector is separated from a center position of an elastic layer of a pressure rotator farther than the second temperature detector is in an orthogonal direction perpendicular to a recording medium conveyance direction. The first temperature detector is separated from the center position for a first length and disposed in a first span defined by the center position in the orthogonal direction. The recording medium detector is disposed in a second span opposite to the first span, separated from the center position for a second length smaller than the first length, and disposed in a minimum recording medium conveyance span where the recording medium having a minimum width in the orthogonal direction is conveyed.

In the second position, which is spaced apart from the first position, the media guide forms a buffer region into which a variable amount of media substrate can collect.

Abstract: A driving force transmitter, including a coupling member, a cam member, an electromagnetic clutch, a sensor, and a controller, is provided. The coupling member arranged between a driving source and a driven device includes a first shaft, a second shaft, a stationary coupling member, and a movable coupling member which is movable between a separating position and an engaging position. The cam member is rotatable to move the movable coupling member. The electromagnetic clutch connects the cam member with the driving source when electrically powered and disconnects the cam member when not electrically powered. The sensor detects rotational positions of the cam member. The controller switches the electricity to the electromagnetic clutch according to the rotational positions of the cam member.

The selector selects whether to detect a driving current flowing through the first phase winding or to estimate a driving current flowing through the first phase winding. The first pulse generator generates the first PWM signal based on a driving current value output from the detector or the estimator.
