Abstract:
An optical reading head of a scanning apparatus includes a casing, a lens, a base and a sliding frame. The base is used to support an image sensing module and movable on the casing. The sliding frame is coupled with the base for fixing and driving the lens to move along a gliding track on the casing. During the focusing operation, the lens' position is adjustable by moving the sliding frame and the optical signals are clearly imaged onto the image sensor of the imaging sensing module. During the magnification correcting operation, positions of the lens and the imaging sensing module are adjustable by moving the base and the tolerance of magnification for the optical reading head would be equal to or less than an acceptable preset value.
Abstract:
A document reader includes an image sensor. The image sensor is movable in a secondary scanning direction and rotatable about a rotational axis extending in a primary scanning direction, and obtains image information from a region facing a light-receiving surface. Rotation of the image sensor is controlled based on distance information about a distance between a document surface and a platen in such a manner as to make an image distance fall within a depth-of-field range of the image sensor.
Abstract:
A scanning device scans both sides of a document. The document is fed between a first image sensor module and a second image sensor module. The second image sensor module is moved with respect to the first image sensor module so that a separation distance between the second image sensor module and the first image sensor module is based on a thickness of the document. A first side of the document is scanned using a first scan line located in the first image sensor module. A second side of the document is scanned using a second scan line located in the second image sensor module. When the document is fed between the first image sensor module and the second image sensor module, the document does not reach the first scan line and the second scan line simultaneously.
Abstract:
A handheld print-on-demand digital device. The device comprises a pagewidth inkjet printhead and a platen assembly operatively positioned relative to the printhead. The platen assembly comprises: a planar platen member for supporting print media; a print media transport roller located on a first side of the platen member for feeding print media past said printhead; and a cutting mechanism located on a second opposite side of the platen member for severing the print media. The cutting mechanism includes a transport assembly driven by a threaded rod. The transport assembly has a body for traversing across the print media and a cutting edge fixed to the body for severing the print media during a traverse of the body.
Abstract:
An inkjet printer that has a printhead with an elongate orifice plate and a surface that surrounds the elongate orifice plate, a platen that partially defines a media path extending passed the printhead, a capping member with a seal for sealing engagement with the surface that surrounds the printhead, and a static solenoid for moving the capping member in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the elongate orifice plate. During use, the printhead, the media path and the platen all remain fixed relative to each other, and the capping member is movable through the media path. Providing a sealing surface around the orifice plate that is configured to engage the cap and seal the printhead requires less manufacturing precision than a capping mechanism that directly engages the orifice plate. Production efficiencies from lower precision assembly have particular significance for high volume products.
Abstract:
Provided is an image reading apparatus including: an image reading sensor which reads an image from an original; and a mounting portion which mounts the image reading sensor, wherein the image reading sensor includes a positioning portion which is brought into contact with the mounting portion and adjusts the relative position of the image reading sensor with respect to the mounting portion; and a pressing portion which presses the positioning portion so as to bring the positioning portion into contact with the mounting portion.
Abstract:
An optical unit assembly is provided with an optical system including an optical component for irradiating a target object with light and receiving the reflected light, a casing for accommodating the optical system, a supporting frame for supporting a part of the casing, and a height adjusting member having a supporting surface for supporting another part of the casing and placed between the supporting frame and the casing. The height adjusting mechanism is slidable between the supporting frame and the casing with a supported state of the casing by the supporting frame substantially maintained, and the supporting surface includes at least a first supporting surface set at a specified first height position and a second supporting surface set at a second height position different from the first height position.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus includes a manuscript reader which reads a manuscript to generate image data; a recording head which has nozzles for discharging an ink and which discharges the ink from the nozzles to record an image on a recording medium based on the image data; a restoring mechanism which performs a restoring operation for restoring a discharge state of the nozzles; a controller which controls the manuscript reader and the restoring mechanism; and an instruction receiver which receives an instruction to generate the image data by reading the manuscript and record the image based on the image data. If the instruction receiver receives the instruction, the controller controls the manuscript reader to execute reading of the manuscript, and the controller controls the restoring mechanism based on a time at which the instruction is received to execute the restoring operation.
Abstract:
A platen for a print on demand digital device, such as a digital camera, is provided. The platen includes a print media transport roller located on a first side of a planar member to support print media. A cutting mechanism is located on a second opposite side of the planar member to sever the print media. The cutting mechanism includes a cutting wheel mounted to a block threaded on a rotating threaded rod. A pawl extends from the block and is arranged to incrementally rotate a counter wheel with each cutting action.
Abstract:
Cam-operated focus shift in an optical image scanner is provided. One embodiment comprises a method of adjusting the location of an object plane above a platen to be scanned by an optical head. Briefly described, one such method comprises rotating a cam-shaped spacer that is functionally disposed between the platen and the optical head.
