Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods for the precise dispensation of small volumes of liquids are presented. A fluid microdispenser comprises a liquid-filled tube, an actuator coupled to the tube, and a tip at one end of the tube. When the actuator applies an actuation pressure, a precise volume of liquid is ejected from the orifice of the tip. The orifice is manufactured to control the volume of liquid ejected by each actuation and, therefore, may have a diameter smaller than that of the liquid-filled tube. The invention comprises systems, methods, and devices so that the inner diameter of the liquid-filled tube is decreased (tapered) to that of the orifice so as to maximize transmission to the orifice of the pressure generated by the actuation stimulus. This enables the volume of liquid ejected by each stimulus to be reproducibly controlled by the amplitude of the actuation stimulus.
Abstract:
A disclosed player tracking unit provides a display, a wireless interface device designed or configured to communicate with a portable wireless headset, and a logic device designed or configured to communicate with the display, the wireless interface device, a master gaming controller that controls a game played on a gaming machine, and a player tracking server. The logic device can further communicate with the portable wireless headset using the wireless interface device. The portable wireless headset can include one or more earpieces configured to be worn by a player. Various messages, alerts, music, etc. can be sent from the player tracking unit to the portable wireless headset.
Abstract:
A method in a Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) of handling subscriber services when a serving Mobile Switching Center (MSC) does not support all WIN triggers. The WIN includes a Home Location Register (HLR) having a subscriber profile that indicates the WIN triggers required to support a particular subscriber's active services. When an invoke message is sent from the MSC to the HLR, a WIN Capabilities (WINCAP) parameter is included and indicates the WIN triggers supported by the MSC. The HLR identifies a Service Control Point (SCP) for each subscriber service that requires a WIN trigger and is not supported by the MSC. The HLR then queries each identified SCP for call-treatment instructions. If an SCP determines that its service is essential, a response is returned to the HLR with an instruction to deny service to the subscriber. If an SCP determines that its service is not essential, a response is returned to the HLR with an instruction to skip the unsupported service and allow basic services to the subscriber. The HLR collates the responses and determines a call-treatment response to return to the MSC.
Abstract:
A method of providing sub-half-micron copper interconnections with improved electromigration and corrosion resistance. The method includes double damascene using electroplated copper, where the seed layer is converted to an intermetallic layer. A layer of copper intermetallics with hafnium, lanthanum, zirconium or tin, is provided to improve the electromigration resistance and to reduce defect sensitivity. A method is also provided to form a cap atop copper lines, to improve corrosion resistance, which fully covers the surface. Structure and methods are also described to improve the electromigration and corrosion resistance by incorporating carbon atoms in copper interstitial positions.
Abstract:
A coin output hopper capable of handling coins of different diameters and thicknesses is provided. A backplate is supported by a spring suspension to maintain the backplate substantially parallel to a rotating holeywheel/pinwheel despite misalignments, warping or other misshaping of the pinwheel. A coin guide is provided with a geometry to engage with different diameter coins so as to position the coins in the desired position within a coin pocket. A deflector is provided with a geometry which engages different diameter coins to accelerate coins along a knife edge exit path. The coins are forced along a path toward and along the knife edge by pins positioned such that excessive forces are avoided for any of a range of coin diameters.
Abstract:
A coin singulator for outputting coins in single file in a known orientation for effecting payout from a gaming terminal is provided. A rotatable disk is positioned spaced-apart from a backplate to define a substantially cylindrical region therebetween in conjunction with a rim region. Vanes on the front surface of the rotating disk convey coins picked up from a randomly-oriented mass of coins to a central opening of the disk for conveyance through the central opening into the space between the disk and the backplate. The distance between the disk and the backplate is such that only a single layer or thickness of coins is accommodated. Preferably the backplate is inclined such that the coins are positioned in face-to-face contact with the backplate. A plurality of vanes on the back surface of the disk moves the coin along the rim to an exit opening in the rim with the back surface vanes preferably shaped to output no more than a single coin as each rim passes the opening. The device can accommodate a range of coin or token sizes thus reducing the number of configurations or parts to be kept in inventory.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a new sequence of methods and materials to improve the process yield and to enhance the reliability of multilevel interconnection with sub-half-micron geometry by making judicious use of composite insulators to prevent metal thinning over hard metal via plugs and by preventing process induced metal spike formation. The method takes advantage of the double damascene process. The metal spikes and the metal thinning resulting from over etch process is prevented in this method by using a pair of insulators which require different chemistries for etching.
Abstract:
A system for interconneting local networks via a public transmission network, in which equipment items of the microcomputer type, connected to a local network A, are capable of being connected to the public network by a router X in order to communicate with one or more equipment items of the microcomputer type connected to at least one other local network B, which are capable of being linked to the public network by a router Y. The system includes security protection of the establishment of the communications between the local networks over the public network, implementing a certificate exchange mechanism and the software procedures for active authentication, of the "challenge-response" type being placed in the routers.
