Abstract:
In a phase locked loop synchronized oscillator wherein a phase detector compares an oscillator frequency and a synchronizing frequency to derive a voltage for controlling the oscillator frequency there is provided a memory circuit between the phase detector and the oscillator for holding the instantaneous value of the detector output and a blocking circuit for sensing for interferences in the control voltage to prevent the memory from changing the value hold before the interference occurred.
Abstract:
A method and an arrangement for voltage testing and drying an insulated electrical conductor. The insulated conductor is, after the extrusion process, brought through a pipe which is partly closed by a lead-in attached to each end of the pipe. The pipe contains a number of metal spheres which surround the conductor running through the pipe. The movement of the conductor causes the spheres to move around the conductor thus drying the same. An outer voltage source can be connected to a metallic strip inside the pipe and, due to the metal spheres, a test voltage is applied across the insulation of the wire.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an assemblage for laying an underground cable. This assemblage includes a movable but stationarily operated power plant, a digging tool and a cable laying tool. The digging tool and the cable laying tool are connected to the power plant so that they can be extended from the power plant to a selected distance and are then pulled back to the power plant. While being so pulled back the digging tool digs a trench and the cable laying tool feeds cable to be laid into the trench as the same is being formed. A brake is mounted on the cable laying tool and co-acts with the same so as to avoid slack in the cable while the same is being laid.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for reducing the effect of a loss of information during transmission at compressed band width, particularly during transmission at compressed band width of a PCM-signal. Each of the serially generated PCM-words indicates the light intensity in picture elements that are serially scanned in a TV-frame, the number of transmitted PCMwords in each TV-frame being less than the number of generated PCM-words. According to the invention the effect of the loss of picture information is reduced in such a manner that when band width comprsssion is made TV-line by TV-line the loss will alternately occur on the left and right edges of the TV-lines on the screen viewed downwards in consecutive order and when band width compression is made TV-field by TV-field the loss will alternately occur on the upper and lower edges of the screen, the loss of picture information only appearing as a lesser degree of resolution along the respective edges of the screen.
Abstract:
In a telecommunication system having a central control unit and a telecommunication network wherein there are a plurality of stations interconnected by bidirectional primary links used during normal fault free operation and spare sections used when there is a fault in at least one of the primary links and wherein the central control unit initiates the changeover to selected spare sections upon detection of a fault, there is switchover apparatus in at least one of the stations and controlled by the central control unit for switching connections from primary links to space sections utilized by sub-routes.
Abstract:
The invention refers to a method for obtaining an accurately determined high resistance in a resistor produced in a single crystalline substrate in the form of a diffused region limited in length, width and depth direction, which region is covered with an oxide layer and is provided with a first and a second window in the oxide layer for connection of two terminal contacts. According to the invention, a third window is made in the oxide layer on the top of the diffused region by means of a conventional photo-resist and etching technique whereupon the diffused region is etched in the depth direction through the third window for a predetermined time period during which such a quantity of material is removed that the resistance of the quantity of material remaining in the diffused region, measured between the first and second window, will be equal to a predetermined resistance value.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for increasing the transmission capacity of a time division synchronous satellite telecommunication system in which each ground station has a control processor which is arranged to assign continuously time slots out of a time slot pool to the ground stations in proportion to their varying demands for transmission capacity. According to the invention, it is possible to apply speech interpolation not only to such time slots that are constantly assigned to the ground stations and are transmitted via permanently assigned transmission channels but also to reassignable time slots of the pool, transmitted via temporarily assigned transmission channels.
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting the presence of wheel flats on rail vehicles. The system includes a voltage source, one side of which is connected to a first rail of a track and the other to a second rail extending parallel with the first rail in a manner whereby the current circuit includes the rim of the wheel being sensed. The connection points are spaced in the longitudinal direction of the track such that the distance between the connection points is shorter than the smallest axle distance occurring in the vehicle. The circuit also includes an impedance and a detecting means connected over a portion of the impedance to sense changes in voltage resulting from a break in the circuit caused by a wheel flat.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of coding a data flow carrying binary information in a local transmission equipment. The data flow comprises two kinds of data signal elements and control signal elements, whereby an optional polarity on the line terminal of the transmission can be selected. The coding method uses four different binary code words 0101, 1010, 0011 and 1100, so that the first kind of the data elements corresponds to one of the code words 0101 or 1010 and the other kind of the code words corresponds to one of the code words 0011 and 1100. One or the other of the code words is selected so that more than two of the code words will not follow one another upon the coding of more than two data elements of the same kind.
Abstract:
An end plate for a bobbin comprising a L-shaped piece of an insulating material the first branch of which having a through hole for a core and a number of grooves for connecting wires to windings of the bobbin and the second branch of the end plate having notches for placing soldering tabs, each groove in the first branch emerging into a notch in the other branch, the emerging point having the form of a narrow mouth which the connecting wires pass on their way to the soldering tabs and which after the bobbin windings are completed are closed, thus locking connecting wires to the bottom of the notches.
