Abstract:
A mounting structure for a plurality of print head units includes a frame; a rigid support mounted on the frame, the support having a plurality of mounting sites each of which is adapted to hold an individual print head unit; and an adjusting system for positional adjustment of the print head units relative to the frame. Each mounting site has at least one adjusting mechanism for individually adjusting, in at least one degree of freedom, a position of the print head unit that is held in that mounting site.
Abstract:
A method is provided for retaining a stack of sheets in a post-processing unit which improves retaining capabilities of a retaining element while retaining a stack of sheets. This method comprises the steps of forming a stack of sheets, providing a wire from a wire source, the wire being plastically-elastically deformable, selecting a retaining element type from one of a clip element type and a stapling element type, determining a wire deforming program for forming a retaining element of the selected retaining element type, forming the retaining element according to the wire deforming program by bending the wire at a number of positions along the wire and cutting the wire, and applying the formed retaining element to the stack of sheets, thereby retaining the stack.
Abstract:
A method is provided for printing a print job on a printing system configured by means of printing system settings. The printer includes a print engine and a control unit including a scheduler for scheduling the print job in time. The print job has a plurality of print job settings. The method includes receiving a print job, determining a range of possible print job durations for the print job based on at least one group of settings out of the group of printing system settings, the group of the print job settings and the group of settings for a change-over time between print jobs of a pair of subsequent print jobs, determining a minimum of the range to be an optimistic print job duration for the print job, determining a maximum of the range to be a pessimistic print job duration for the print job, selecting a print job duration for the print job out of the optimistic print job duration and the pessimistic print job duration, based on a selection criterion, scheduling the print job by the scheduler in a scheduling scheme according to the selected print job duration, and printing the print job according to the scheduling scheme.
Abstract:
A droplet ejection apparatus includes: a number of droplet ejection units each of which has a nozzle connected to a liquid chamber and an actuator for expelling droplets of a process liquid; a cleaning station; and a control system arranged to control a relative movement of the droplet ejection units and the cleaning station and to immerse the nozzles into a cleaning liquid, wherein a heater is provided for heating the droplet ejection units, and the control system is adapted to activate the heater when the droplet ejection units and the cleaning station are moved or have been moved towards one another, and to deactivate the heater to allow the droplet ejection units to cool down while the nozzles are immersed in the cleaning liquid.
Abstract:
A sheet transport system comprising an endless carrier belt that has a predetermined stiffness and is arranged to carry the sheets towards an end of a conveyer path where the sheet is separated from the carrier belt by passing this belt around a separating member that has a predetermined curvature, wherein the carrier belt runs in parallel with an endless conveyer that has a larger stiffness than the carrier belt and, at the end of the conveyer path, has a smaller curvature than the separating member.
Abstract:
A method of forming substrate alignment tabs on a print surface of a printer having an ink jet print head that is capable of relief printing, wherein the print head is used for printing the tabs directly onto the print surface.
Abstract:
A method of measuring a wetting property of a nozzle plate in a droplet expelling device having a number of nozzles formed in the nozzle plate, and an actuator system for expelling a droplet of a liquid from each of the nozzles includes applying an amount of liquid onto a surface of the nozzle plate, capturing a digital image of the nozzle plate with the liquid applied thereon, and analyzing the digital image for determining the wetting property from a distribution of the liquid on the nozzle plate. The amount of liquid is applied onto the nozzle plate by expelling liquid through the nozzle.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A method for determining functioning of a print head cooler includes operating the print head cooler, the print head cooler including a first surface in thermal contact with a surface of a print head; providing a predetermined amount of heat to the print head; measuring the temperature of the print head; based on the measured temperature, determining the functioning of the print head cooler. The predetermined amount of heat is provided by applying at least one non-jetting pulse to a liquid present in the print head. An assembly of a print head and a print head cooler is also disclosed. The assembly includes a control that is configured to perform the method for determining functioning of a print head cooler.
