Abstract:
One or more implementations of a multi-layered bag with reinforced seals include an outer layer or bag and an inner layer or bag positioned within the outer layer or bag. The multi-layered bag further includes a draw tape positioned near the opening of the multi-layered bag. The draw tape can allow a user to at least partially close the multi-layered bag by drawing the layers of the bag together. The multi-layered bag further includes one or more tape seals that bond the draw tape to layers of the bag. The tape seals can be reinforced and include at least seven plies bonded together. One or more implementations further include methods of forming multi-layered bags with reinforced seals.
Abstract:
The bag for receiving refuse may include a bag body, the bag body including an inside surface, an outside surface, and a rim defining a mouth. The bag may also include a first strip of material disposed on the inside surface of the bag body proximate the rim. The strip may include an inside surface, an outside surface that faces the inside surface of the body, a top edge, and a bottom edge. The bag may also include a front wall, a back wall, and a hem, the hem including a drawstring. The strip may include a printed design. The design could be letters, numbers, pictures, writing, or any other design. When the bag is inserted into a trash receptacle such that the rim of the bag is folded over the rim of the receptacle, the printed design is visible from outside the receptacle.
Abstract:
The present invention consists of an inexpensive tight sealing plastic container suited for microwave cooking, top-shelf dishwashing and freezer use. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the container is provided with two compartments, one large and one small. The container utilizes a dual cut-back closure device of which the retaining bead of the container bottom maintains the container top in a secure position. The inside dimensions of the container top are slightly larger than the container bottom in both compartments. The difference in sizes provides an interference fit and forms a substantially leak proof seal along the inside perimeter of both compartments of the container. The container top provides at least one gripping tab, which facilitates the separation of the container top from the container bottom and permit container venting. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the container top is provided with two gripping tabs with one gripping tab allocated to each of the two compartments. In accordance with another embodiment, the closure devices on the container top and bottom are widened at the corner regions.
Abstract:
A controlled permeability film composition including a film forming polymer; an inert porous filler in an effective amount to reduce the ratio of carbon dioxide permeability to the oxygen permeability of the film; and wherein the filler has a particle size greater than the intrinsic film thickness of the composite film; and a non-porous filler having a particle size larger than that of the inert pour filler and being present in an amount in an effective amount to control excessive variablility of oxygen transmission rate through film upon activation of the film by compression, for example, by roll crushing. Preferably the porous filler is present in an amount sufficient to reduce the ratio of carbon dioxide to oxygen permeability of the controlled permeability film. The addition of the non porous filler provides improved properties, for example, better permeability/temperature behavior, more consistent film properties and better CO.sub.2 /O.sub.2 permeability ratio. The larger non porous particles help control the variability of the OTR of the film by serving as a buffer to reduce the sensitivity to the pressure activation.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic bag includes raised rib-like elements that allow the thermoplastic bag to expand. The thermoplastic bag further includes side seals having rib-like elements that allow the side seals to expand. Additionally, in one or more implementations, the thermoplastic bag includes one or more of a material formulation, a density of raised rib-like elements, a height of raised rib-like elements, or land areas that provide the raised rib-like elements with a reduced rebound ratio.
Abstract:
One or more implementations of a thermoplastic bag with a grab zone of deformations including raised rib-like elements positioned in a high-touch area of the bag. For example, the thermoplastic bag includes a hem skirt non-continuously laminated to a sidewall by one or more raised rib-like elements. The grab zone regions of one or more raised-rib-like elements are located in visible and high-touch areas to provide visual and tactile cues of strength and durability. Moreover, the grab zone regions of one or more raised rib-like elements serve to distribute pull and lift forces across a wider area in order to avoid common failures in high-touch areas such as over stretching, punctures, tears, and rips.

The file of this patent contains at least one drawing/photograph executed in color. Copies of this patent with color drawing(s)/photograph(s) will be provided by the Office upon request and payment of the necessary fee. The sole FIGURE is a front view of a film showing the new design. The broken lines surrounding the FIGURE depict the boundaries of the claim and form no part thereof.
Abstract:
One or more implementations of a multi-film thermoplastic bag with a grab zone of contact areas positioned in a high-touch area of the bag. For example, the multi-film thermoplastic bag includes one or more regions of a first film in contact with a second film at one or more contact areas. The grab zone regions of one or more contact areas are located in visible and high-touch areas to provide visual and tactile cues of strength and durability. Moreover, the grab zone regions of one or more contact areas serve to distribute pull and lift forces across a wider area in order to avoid common failures in high-touch areas such as over stretching, punctures, tears, and rips.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a reinforced thermoplastic bag with lofted regions. In one or more embodiments, the reinforced thermoplastic bag includes a reinforced portion with lofted regions at a top-of-bag area where users often apply an external force to lift or carry the reinforced thermoplastic bag. In these or other embodiments, a reinforcing strip is positioned across one or both of a hem channel region and a grab zone along an outer surface, an inner surface, or between layers of the reinforced thermoplastic bag. In one or more embodiments, the lofted regions increase the loft of the reinforced thermoplastic bag, improve the feel of the reinforced thermoplastic bag, and/or modify a look of the reinforced thermoplastic bag.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to thermoplastics film, multi-film structures, and bags including enhanced physical properties. For example, one or more implementations include tailoring the physical properties of thermoplastic films by forming ribs using ring rolling in the films that extend at an angle relative to a direction in which the film is extruded (e.g., the machine direction). In other words, one or more implementations include films with a pattern of ribs extending at an acute angle to the predominate direction of molecular orientation of the thermoplastic film. The angled ribs increase the machine direction tear resistance of the thermoplastic film by intersecting any machine direction propagating tears and redirecting the tears towards the higher tear resistant transverse direction.
