摘要: Methods for realizing advanced graphical user interface (GUI) in panel subunit. The present invention defines, in one embodiment, a focus in user action and a focus out user action for panel subunit. The focus in/out user actions, when received by a controller device, are then passed to the target device. When the target device receives the focus in/out user actions, the target device will be able to update the GUI appropriately. The present invention also provides a user action pass-through element for conditionally passing through user actions to the target device. In one embodiment, when a scroll button that is implemented with the user action pass-through element is in focus, focus navigation commands received by the controller are passed through to the target device. By using the focus in/out user actions and by using the conditional user action pass-through mechanisms of the present invention, more complicated and advanced GUI, such as an electronic programming guide (EPG) can be achieved.

摘要: The present invention relates to a home entertainment system and method for selectively recording or purchasing a show broadcast for receipt by the home entertainment system to perform selective recording or purchasing an electronic guide screen is initially produced. Upon viewing the electronic guide screen, a viewer may select a show to be entered into timer memory. This selection prompts the viewer to select whether or not to record the show. Thereafter, the programming data associated with the show is loaded into timer memory along with information indicating whether the show is scheduled to be recorded.

摘要: A system and method for testing a system and method for testing a remote transmitter that controls a peripheral device and for updating control codes utilized by the remote transmitter. One embodiment of the system includes a peripheral device, a broadcast receiver such as an integrated receiver decoder (IRD) and a remote transmitter that receives signals from the IRD and generates control codes to the peripheral device to service a program event. The system supports automatic loading and updating of control codes used by the remote transmitter to control present and perhaps future peripheral devices. Likewise, the IRD supports testing of the remote transmitter through a testing screen.

摘要: A magnetic head having a pair of magnetic core halves integrally bonded to each other, each magnetic core half being formed by a single-crystal ferrite piece and a polycrystal ferrite piece bonded together to constitute a junction ferrite, with a magnetic gap being defined between abutting surfaces of the magnetic core halves. The single-crystal ferrite pieces are arranged towards the abutting surfaces of the magnetic core halves and the polycrystal ferrite pieces are arranged on the opposite side of the abutting surfaces with respect to the single-crystal ferrite pieces. Preferably, the surface of the single-crystal ferrite piece having sliding contact with the magnetic recording medium, the gap surface of the single-crystal ferrite piece and the surface of the single-crystal ferrite piece corresponding to the lateral surface of the magnetic head are the (211) plane, (111) plane and the (110) plane, respectively. The directions of the crystal axes within the plane (100) are symmetrical to each other on both sides of the magnetic gap. The magnetic head is low in sliding noise and superior in electro-magnetic conversion characteristics. In addition, the magnetic recording medium is superior in abrasion characteristics since the partial advancing abrasion is prohibited from occurring on its surface configured to have sliding contact with the magnetic recording medium.

摘要: A receiving chamber receives a material heated in a heating chamber. An injecting shaft of an injecting machine slurries the material crushed by cutters downstream of the receiving chamber and feeds the slurried material to an injection port formed between the fore ends of the shaft and injecting chamber so that the slurried material is gradually accumulated in the port. The shaft is retracted by counteraction from the slurried material accumulated in the port, over a distance proportional to a current accumulated amount of the material in the port. The current accumulated amount of the material in the port can be detected from a current position of the shaft, and then it is determined whether the detected current accumulated amount has reached a predetermined amount. When the current accumulated amount has not reached the predetermined amount, the cutters and injecting shaft are further driven until the predetermined amount is reached. The receiving chamber has a pair of passage sections on its outer surface in opposed relation to each other, which function both as light beam passages for light emitting and receiving elements that are provided on the sections for detecting whether a heated material is in the receiving chamber, and as inert gas supply passages to direct inert gas into the receiving chamber.
