Abstract: A method for data communication across a layer 2 bridged network having two or more edge nodes configured for receiving and transmitting multiprotocol data packets. The method includes creating a pseudowire circuit across the bridged network, receiving data packets at one of the edge nodes, encapsulating data packets into pseudowire frames, encapsulating the pseudowire frames inside MAC frames, and transmitting the encapsulated frames over the carrier bridged network.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for managing and monitoring agricultural produce inventories from harvest forward in the supply chain, including obtaining data points relating to activity and activity locations that bear on the produce as it moves along the supply chain, and further includes methods for tracing inventory histories. The invention includes three component parts; (1) management of variables that impact the crop prior to the farm gate, (2) tracking, tracing, and monitoring functions for the crop as it moves through the supply chain, and finally (3) crop-specific integration of the system and it's requisite control points into a wide variety of entities within the fresh produce supply chain with minimal impact on existing operations. Also included is a system and method for assigning a non-unique identifier to the segregated crop batch or product and associating a global location identifier indicating a point of origin of said crop batch with said non-unique identifier. This association transforms the non-unique product identifier into a globally unique identifier.

Abstract: An optical connector cleaner. The optical connector cleaner includes a nonlinear path along which an optical connector is moved. By following the nonlinear path, the optical connector is subjected to planetary motion without requiring the operator to twist the connector by hand. The use of planetary motion improves the efficiency and quality of the cleaning operation. In addition, the optical connector cleaner of the present invention provides improved resistance to damage from the ferrule edge during cleaning.

Abstract: An integrated circuit transistor is fabricated with a trench gate having nonconductive sidewalls. The transistor is surrounded by an isolation trench filled with a nonconductive material. The sidewalls of the gate trench are formed of the nonconductive material and are substantially free of unetched substrate material. As a result, the sidewalls of the gate trench do not form an undesired conductive path between the source and the drain of the transistor, thereby advantageously reducing the amount of parasitic current that flows between the source and drain during operation.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for detecting whether a network device supports a protocol, which defines a supplemental header, are disclosed. One method involves detecting a value within a preamble generated by a sending device and verifying that a header format of a header, also generated by the sending device, conforms to a header format definition of a protocol. The header format definition of the protocol defines a supplemental header. The preamble can be an Ethernet preamble. In one embodiment, the preamble is a converged data link (CDL) preamble or other type of preamble that is used to convey operation, administration and management (OAM) information.

Abstract: A virtual network device cluster includes several different virtual network device sub-units, which collectively operate as a single logical network device. The virtual network device cluster identifies the virtual network device sub-unit via which a given packet enters the virtual network device cluster. A packet is forwarded through the virtual network device cluster based on which virtual network device sub-unit has been identified for that packet. In one embodiment, a method involves receiving a packet via a first interface of a first one of several virtual network device sub-units of a virtual network device and associating the packet with the first one of the virtual network device sub-units. The method also involves inhibiting the packet from being sent via an interface of one of the virtual network device sub-units, in response to the packet being associated with the first one of the virtual network device sub-units.
