Abstract:
An animal handling system (AMS), for positioning an immobilized animal in a predefined configuration therein, including: a proximal portion, held outside a medical device including: at least one inner shaft, and at least one outer shaft, the at least one inner is telescopically maneuverable within the at least one outer shaft providing a variable telescopic mechanism; and a distal portion including: a configurable encapsuable life support system (ELSS), the ELSS is rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the at least outer shaft and the at least inner shaft and translationally moveable parallel to the longitudinal axis by means of the maneuverable telescopic mechanism.
Abstract:
An encapsulatable life support mechanism (ELSM) for an analyzed animal, including: a cradle or bed adapted by means of size and shape to accommodate the animal; an anesthetization gas mask (AGM) characterized by a cup with conic cross section, comprising a plurality of apertures located at the outer circumference of the cup; a fluid supplying mechanism (FSM) in which the AGM is placed, the FSM is in a continuous fluid communication with (i) an anesthetization gas inlet positioned outside the ELSM and an outlet located within the ELSM; (ii) an air suction scavenging device positioned outside the ELSM and a mask and an air suction outlet located within the ELSM; and a plurality of (iii) air conditioning tubes; and an airtight shell enveloping the same. The airtight ELSM prevent leakage of anesthetization gas.
Abstract:
An imaging system having an imaging device for imaging at least a portion of an animal. The imaging device may be of an X-ray computed tomography (CT) type, a positron emission tomography (PET) type, a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) type, or a fluorescence and phosphorescence microscopy (FPM) type. The system also includes: a photon transmitter that transmits photons and that is introducible within the body of an animal; at least one imaging photon detector that detects fluorescence excited within the animal by the transmitted photons; and an image processor that superimposes an imaging device image and a photon detector image so as to yield a combined image.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing guided slicing of histological samples. The samples are acquired, spacially labeled with a fiducial marker, and imaged with a scanning system. The images are analyzed, either manually, semi-automatically or automatically, and likely locations of pathologies are identified. A slicing program is then generated and the sample sliced according to the slicing program, thereby ensuring that likely locations of pathologies are analyzed.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a system and method for generating images of at least one unhyperpolarized portion of a specimen by indirectly hyperpolarizing the at least one portion by irradiating the unhyperpolarized portion by radiation emitted from the de-excitation of excited nuclei of a hyperpolarized substance. The hyperpolarized substance is located in proximity to the specimen. Typically, the images are generated by an MRI/NMR device.
