Redetachable, self-adhesive device having a plate, the sides and/or front side of which have fastening means, if appropriate, and the rear side of which has a strip of an adhesive film which is adhesive on both sides and is adhesively attached in such a way that one end of the adhesive film protrudes beyond the plate as a grip, the adhesive film being of such a kind that the adhesive bond achieved with it can be released again by pulling in the direction of the bonding plane, stretching the strip, characterized in that the rear side of the plate (1) has laterally alongside the adhesively attached adhesive film (5) spacers (3A, 3B), the height of which is less than the thickness of the adhesive film (5).
Abstract:
A stretch releasing adhesive article for removably adhesively bonding an object to a surface includes a stretch release adhesive strip and a secondary release member. The stretch release adhesive strip includes a first adhesive end portion having oppositely facing major surfaces arranged to adhesively bond with the object and the surface and includes a non-adhesive tab portion. The secondary release member includes oppositely facing adhesive major surfaces having temporary or repositionable adhesive which allows the adhesive article to be repositioned on the surface and object prior to adhesively bonding the stretch release adhesive strip to the surface and object. The adhesive strength of the secondary release member is sufficient to maintain the secondary release member in adhesive contact with the object and surface when the stretch release adhesive strip is stretched during the removal process. After the stretch release adhesive strip is removed from the object and surface, the secondary release member can be removed from the surface by gently peeling or twisting the secondary release member from the surface.

A tape laminate comprising an internally separable layer having first and second opposite major anchor surfaces, which separable layer has an internal static shear strength in a direction parallel to its anchor surfaces that allows it to support a significant weight (e.g., at least 6 pounds per square inch), and has an internal dynamic tensile strength in a direction generally normal to its anchor surfaces of no greater than 40 pounds per square inch. The major anchor surfaces of the separable layer are bonded to the opposed surfaces of objects (which bonding can be done with strips of stretch release adhesive) so that the laminate can support one object from the other against a static force generally parallel to said anchor surfaces of at least 6 pounds per square inch, whereas the separable layer can be internally separated by a dynamic separating force normal to said anchor surfaces of no greater than about 40 pounds per square inch to separate the objects.
Abstract:
Double-sided stretchable adhesive tapes are described for use in conventional applications, particularly including the mounting or joining of an object to another surface. An improvement lies within the ability to control the timing of the debonding of both surfaces so that one adhesive surface releases before the other. The earlier release can be either on the object side or the surface side, depending on the desired effect. The present invention is applicable to all stretchable tape constructions including the use of plastic backing materials and/or elastic backing materials and allows such an object to be removed without risking substantial snap-back of the adhesive tape or catapulting of the object. The aforementioned advantages can be achieved by a double-sided adhesive tape having a stretchable backing layer, plastic or elastic, and having a lower-adhesion or non-adhesive portion of one adhesive surface, so that a corresponding greater adhesion adhesive portion of the other side remains more aggressively adhered to a surface during stretch removal while the portion of the one adhesive surface is less aggressively adhered or completely released from its surface. A non-adhesive portion may be adhesive-free, or may be an adhesive layer portion which is rendered non-adhesive. A lower-adhesion portion may comprise a low adhesion material, i.e., a weaker adhesive, or may be rendered lower in adhesion by a treatment or coating.

A removable adhesive tape comprising a highly extensible and substantially inelastic backing and a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive. The backing has a high tensile strength, has a lengthwise elongation at break of at least about 150% with less than about 50% elastic recovery after stretching. The adhesive can be a normally tacky and pressure-sensitive adhesive and is coated on at least one surface of the film backing. The adhesive is preferably highly extensible, does not separate from the backing during stretching, and has higher cohesion than adhesion to any suitable substrate. After being applied to a substrate, the adhesive tape of the present invention becomes firmly bonded, but can be easily removed without damaging the substrate by simply stretching it in a direction substantially parallel, i.e. less than about 35.degree., to the surface of the substrate.

Use of a strip of an adhesive film for a re-releasable adhesive bond based on thermoplastic elastomer and tackifying resins, the adhesive film having high elasticity and low plasticity and the adhesion being lower than the cohesion, the adhesive strength largely disappearing during extension of the film, the ratio of peel strength to tear strength being at least 1:1.5, and an adhesive bond produced therewith being releasable by pulling on the adhesive film in the direction of the plane of adhesion, one end of the strip being provided on both sides with a UV-opaque covering which at the same time serves as a tab for pulling.

A hardware assembly is provided with a rigid hardware component. A flexible substrate is mounted to the rigid hardware component. A reversible dry adhesive is spread across an application surface of the flexible substrate to mount the hardware assembly to a support surface. The flexible substrate permits compliance between the reversible dry adhesive and the rigid hardware component to minimize nonconformance of the reversible dry adhesive upon the support surface. A method of installing the hardware assembly provides a flexible substrate with a rigid hardware component upon one side of the flexible substrate, and a reversible dry adhesive upon another side of the flexible substrate. The rigid hardware component is pressed towards a support surface to engage the reversible dry adhesive with the support surface while deforming the flexible substrate to minimize nonconformance of the reversible dry adhesive and the support surface.

This invention provides a PSA sheet that allows prevention or reduction of damage such as fracture with efficient stretch removability. A stretchable PSA sheet is provided, comprising a PSA layer and a film-like substrate supporting the PSA layer. The PSA sheet has a long section. The long section has a tapered segment that extends, tapering to a first end of the length direction and the film-like substrate has a minimum cross-sectional area larger than 0.30 mm2 in the tapered segment.
