Abstract: An architecture for facilitating smart physical cell identity (PCI) configuration for aerial network equipment that can used in terrestrial 4G and/or 5G LTE wireless networking paradigms. A method can comprise: receiving, from core network equipment, an instruction to travel from a first geographic location to a second geographic location, wherein the second geographic location has been determined, by the core network equipment, as representing a hotspot location; traveling from the first geographic location to the hotspot location; based on crossing a boundary associated with the hotspot location, initiating execution of a user equipment relay process that transitions the aerial user equipment from being user equipment to being aerial network equipment; and transmitting to the core network equipment that the user equipment relay process has been successfully initiated.

Abstract: The technologies described herein are generally directed to handling communication link failures in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. For example, a method described herein can include determining that a first connection by a first user equipment to a network access point failed, resulting in a determined connection failure, with the network access point enabling respective access to services enabled via a communication network. The method can further include, based on a result of an analysis of the determined connection failure, identifying, by the network equipment, a geographic area associated with the determined connection failure. Further, based on measurements collected within the geographic area, designating, in a data store by the network equipment, the geographic area as a blocked geographic area.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a notification from a serving base station regarding a communication device over a mobile network indicating discovery of a target base station, and obtaining a device type of the communication device and a first cell identifier of the target base station. Further embodiments include providing instructions to the serving base station to request the communication device to obtain a second cell identifier of the target base station, and obtaining the second cell identifier of the target base station from the serving base station over the mobile network. Additional embodiments include providing instructions to the serving base station to generate a communication link between the serving base station and the target base station based on the second cell identifier. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: An architecture to avoid handover ping-pong for aerial user equipment (UE) operational in terrestrial fourth generation (4G) and/or fifth generation (5G) long term evolution (LTE) networks. A method can comprise receiving a request to connect to the network equipment from aerial user equipment; based on the request to connect, retrieving subscription data; based on the subscription data, determining that the aerial user equipment is aerial equipment; determining that the aerial user equipment is engaged in a ping-pong handover event with terrestrial based network equipment situated within a defined geographic area; and transmitting instructions to the aerial user equipment to confirm the ping-pong handover event, wherein the instruction comprises a delay value representing a back off time value for the aerial user equipment to refrain from gathering measurement data within the defined geographic area.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a first wireless signal associated with a first communication device that interferes with a second wireless signal associated with a second communication device. Further embodiments include identifying a first frequency band in which the first wireless signal is assigned, the first frequency band associated with a first mobile network, and identifying a second frequency band in which the second wireless signal is assigned, the second frequency band associated with a second mobile network. Additional embodiments can include detecting the first wireless signal is above a first power threshold, and providing instructions to a base station associated with the first communication device. The instructions indicate the base station to assign first wireless signal associated with the first communication device from the first frequency band to a third frequency band associated with the first mobile network.
