Abstract: A rotor assembly of an electric motor generally comprises a center shaft configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis and a plurality of spacers extending radially outward from the center shaft, the spacers fixedly attached to the center shaft. A plurality of axially stacked annular laminations are coaxially aligned with the center shaft and radially supported on an inner circumferential surface by the plurality of spacers. Each of the plurality of spacers has, at each axial end of the stacked annular laminations, first and second axial restraining elements extending in an outward radial direction beyond the inner circumferential surface of the plurality of stacked annular laminations. The plurality of stacked annular laminations are compressed between the first axial restraining element and the second axial restraining element, such that an axial compression force is applied to the plurality of stacked laminations.

Abstract: A stop module for non-jamming end-of-stroke stoppage of a rotary drive actuator includes timing gears to articulate a stopping pawl, and a low inertia, deformable stopping disk arranged to safely dissipate excess rotational kinetic energy of the rotary actuator. The stop module does not rely on friction to stop and dissipate the excess kinetic energy, but instead relies on predictable deformation of a metallic stopping disk which may be provided in a stopping cartridge of the stop module. Use of a deformable element to dissipate excess energy allows the disclosed stop module to be lighter and smaller than conventional end-of-stroke stopping mechanisms.

Abstract: A multi-lumen sensing system (10) includes medical tubing (20) having a plurality of lumens (22A, 22B) and at least one secondary passageway (24) extending in an axial direction of the medical tubing, wherein the secondary passageway is between the plurality of lumens. The multi-lumen sensing system may include a sensing receptacle (30) defining a channel (32) in which a lengthwise portion of the medical tubing is received. A plurality of ultrasonic transmitting elements (40T, 42T) may be arranged within the secondary passageway of the medical tubing or as part of the sensing receptacle for transmitting respective ultrasonic signals across the lumens to a corresponding plurality of ultrasonic receiving elements (40R, 42R) of the sensing receptacle. Alternatively, the sensing receptacle may include a plurality of ultrasonic transmitting and receiving elements (40, 42, 44) transmitting respective signals across the lumens for return reflection at an interface of the secondary passageway.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing system uses a trained artificial intelligence module as part of a closed-loop control structure for adjusting the initial set of build parameters in-process to improve part quality. The closed-loop control structure includes a slow control loop taking into account in-process build layer images, and may include fast control loop taking into account melt pool monitoring data. The artificial intelligence module is trained using outputs from a plurality of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) tasked with evaluating build layer images captured in-process and images of finished parts captured post-process. The post process images may include two-dimensional images of sectioned finished parts and three-dimensional CAT scan images of finished parts.
