Abstract:
An information technology (IT) environment includes IT managed resources in which the resources are abstracted using a model. In response to determining that a request for information received from a client is non-optimal in terms of processing the request, a first hint can be constructed that indicates how future requests are to be formulated by the client so that they are more optimal in terms of processing the future requests. In response to determining that the information is internally structured non-optimally in terms of processing the request, a second hint can be constructed that indicates how the information is to be internally structured more optimally in terms of processing future requests. In response to determining that processing the request will be non-optimal, a third hint can be constructed relating to a characteristic that results in non-optimal processing of the request, and logged within a hint log for offline analysis.
Abstract:
A first Network Interface Controller operates in a low power mode. The first Network Interface Controller transitions from low power mode to a power-up sequence if a sleep packet in not received from a second Network Interface Controller at the first Network Interface Controller within a predetermined time threshold.
Abstract:
System and method for creating, configuring, representing, and using variables in programs. A graphical user interface (GUI) may be displayed in response to user input requesting creation and/or configuration of a variable for use in or comprised in one or more programs, e.g., on various devices. User input is received to the GUI configuring attributes of the variable, including: name, data type, and/or scope (e.g., local, global, or network). The configured attributes are stored and optionally displayed, e.g., in a resource tree, and the variable in each of the programs updated in accordance with the configured attributes. When at least one of the programs is incompatible with the configured variable, an error condition may be indicated, e.g., by providing information relating to portions of the program that are incompatible with the configured variable. The program may be modified in response to user input for compatibility with the configured variable.
Abstract:
A method of forming a through silicon via includes forming a via opening in a substrate using a hard mask, wherein a polymer is formed in the via opening. A first wet clean removes a first portion of the polymer and forms a first carbon containing oxide along portions of the sidewalls. A first ash process modifies the first carbon containing oxide and removes a second portion of the polymer. A first wet etch removes the modified first carbon containing oxide and a third portion of the polymer. A second ash process forms a second carbon containing oxide along at least a portion of the sidewalls. A second wet etch process removes the second carbon containing oxide and a fourth portions of the polymer. A third ash process forms a third carbon containing oxide along portions of the sidewalls and removes any remaining portions of the polymer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for idling a clock synchronizing circuit during at least a portion of time during execution of a refresh operation in a memory device. In a memory device receiving an external clock signal, a method and apparatus for executing a refresh operation is provided that includes initiating at least one refresh operation in the memory device, and ceasing generation of an internal clock signal timed with respect to the external clock signal for at least a portion of the time in which at least one refresh operation takes to complete.
Abstract:
A slide kit contains slides having citations. The slides are loaded into memory, and the citations are automatically parsed. The system automatically connects to external databases to obtain and download texts associated with the citations, so that the user can review the slides together with such texts. The system also allows the user to select slides from a list of citations, so as to determine which slides contain a particular citation. In another embodiment, the system enables the user to define a search which is executed among the texts associated with citations contained in the slide kit. Thus, in general, the result of the search may include slides which may or may not themselves contain the search terms. In this way, the user may retrieve slides based on their general relevance, without regard to the specific words shown on the slides.
Abstract:
A set of data is allocated into a plurality of data chunks, wherein the plurality of data chunks is thinly provisioned and erasure coded. A plurality of storage devices is divided into a first and a second set of storage devices, wherein the first set of storage devices is powered up and the second set of storage devices is powered down. The data chunks are distributed on the first set of storage devices to equally load each of the first set of storage devices. A storage device from the second set of storage devices is powered up to reassign the storage device from the second set of storage devices to the first set of storage devices. Data chunks are migrated to a reassigned storage device until the data chunks are evenly distributed on the first set of storage devices and the reassigned storage device.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, apparatus, and systems for the interconnection of electronic system apparatus having one or more different communication protocols. A preferred embodiment is disclosed in which a single physical interface and a single protocol are used for providing an efficient and scalable interconnection between a host and operably coupled subsystem apparatus connected to the MMC. In a disclosed method, a bus is provided for coupling a system host to a plurality of system components and a Multi-Management Protocol (MMP) is employed. The Multi-Management Protocol includes a plurality of subclasses, each further including component identity information and function data. The subclasses are grouped by functionality into at least two groups comprising a standard group and an extension group. In a multi-component electronic system according to the invention, an electronic protocol packet structure includes a starting frame delimiter, a length field, a target address field, a subclass identifier, an operation identifier, a data field, and a frame check field. Disclosed preferred embodiments also include protocol conversion apparatus having a Multi-Management Controller (MMC) using a host bus for transmitting and receiving data between a host and the MMC based on a Multi-Management Protocol (MMP).
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a method for communication between an initiator system and a block storage cluster. The method may comprise receiving an initial data request from the initiator system to a first storage system, a portion of the data requested in the initial data request is not stored by the first storage system, but is stored by a second storage system; retrieving the portion of the data that is stored by the second storage system; forwarding the portion of the data to the initiator system; and transmitting a referral list comprising at least one referral from the first storage system to the initiator system, wherein the initiator system is configured for maintaining a referral cache based on the referral list, and a subsequent data request initiated by the initiator system is directed to the block storage cluster based on the referral cache.
Abstract:
Improved spur reduction architectures that improve linearity in direct radio frequency (RF) receiver architectures. Non-uniform sampling in the form of sampling clock phase (or frequency) modulation is used to induce phase (or frequency) modulation on signals that are being received from a given Nyquist zone. At the output of the ADC (analog-to-digital converter), the signals are de-modulated to remove the induced modulation based on the Nyquist zone that is being received. The de-modulation process results in non-desired spurious artifacts (interfering leakage signals and ADC spurs) being spread in the frequency domain. Strong spurious artifacts may be removed after measuring the induced modulation and de-modulating. For the case of weak spurious artifacts, the de-modulation for the desired Nyquist zone spread these signals in the frequency domain. Induced modulation on signals may also provide a dithering effect on the ADC.
