Abstract:
A telephony device is assigned two telephone numbers, a first telephone number from a first country and a second telephone number from a second country. When a user places an outgoing call to a telephone number in the first country, the caller ID information indicates that the call is originating from the first telephone number associated with the first country. Also, the user is charged only the local termination rates for calls in the first country, regardless of where the telephony device is located when the call is placed. When the user places an outgoing call to a telephone number in the second country, the caller ID information indicates that the call originated from the second telephone number, associated with the second country. Also, the user is charged only the standard local termination rates for calls in the second country, regardless of where the telephony device is located when the call is placed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for user location registration comprising registering subscriber location information associated with a device with a registration service in a first network, receiving, from a second network, a broadcast location request and sending, in response to the broadcast location request, the subscriber location information to the second network.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for providing trusted caller identification services between a first entity and a second entity are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for validating an identity of a first entity to the second entity may include registering the first entity with a trust authority, wherein registering the first entity includes authenticating the identity of the first entity, and associating the unique code with a caller ID name (CNAM) of the first entity, receiving an identifier in association with a call request, determining that the identifier is correlated with the unique code, and providing to the second entity the CNAM together with an indication of validity.

Abstract:
The present technology is directed to systems and methods for integrating route and rank information into call detail records. The system receives information relating to a communication that is established between a first communication device and a second communication device. The information includes routing information for the established communication that includes at least a route identifier and a rank identifier. The system records the received route identifier and the rank identifier in a call detail record that is generated for the established communication. The route and rank information may be analyzed to for various purposes including troubleshooting and quality improvement.
Abstract:
During setup of a telephony communication between a calling and a called party, a check is made to determine is a special message or information should be played to the calling or called party before the telephony communication is established between the calling and called parties. If so, the message or information is delivered to the party as early media. Systems and methods embodying the invention may track which messages and information have been played to individual parties to thereby avoid delivering the same message or information more than once.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating random numbers based on packetized media data comprising querying one or more packetized media devices for a predetermined number of bits from one or more current real-time transport protocol (RTP) session, receiving the predetermined number of bits from the one or more packetized media devices, assembling the predetermined number of bits into a set of bytes; and converting the second set of bytes into a numerical value.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for populating a contact in an address book on a mobile computing device. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving data associated with a first entity, processing the data received to extract contact information associated with the first entity, populating a user contact entry based on the extracted contact information, and storing the populated user contact in the address book.
Abstract:
Systems and methods performed by a telephony device allow the telephony device to test the quality of multiple potential paths which can be used to conduct a telephony communication. By testing the conditions that presently exist, the telephony device can choose the path that is presently offering the best quality. A telephony communication may be setup over an initial path, and then subsequent testing may determine that it is best to switch to an alternate path offering better call quality. The initial path used for the telephony communication may be the one that offers the fastest initial connection. When multiple potential paths exist, the telephony communication may be conducted over a first path while keep alive messages are communicated over a second path so that the telephony communication can be quickly switched to the second path.
