Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and articles such as catamenials, diapers, pantiliners, paper towels, tissues, underarm shields, etc., which minimize odor caused from body fluids through the incorporation of an effective amount of cyclodextrin, having a particle size of less than 12 microns. Combinations of small particle size cyclodextrins with other odor-controlling materials are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fabric softening bar composition comprising: from about 40% to about 90% by weight of the composition of a hydrophobic fabric softening compound, from about 0.1% to about 10% of an enduring perfume composition comprising at least about 70% of enduring perfume ingredients, and optionally, but preferably, from about 5% to about 30% by weight of the composition of a nonionic surfactant, and from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the composition, water. These compositions are low sudsing, low lathering, non-detersive fabric softening compositions which provide long lasting perfume effects.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a stable, aqueous odor-absorbing composition for use on inanimate surfaces. The composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 5% of solubilized, uncomplexed cyclodextrin, preferably, an effective amount of a solubilized, water-soluble antimicrobial preservative having a water-solubility of greater than about 0.3%, preferably, from about 0% to about 10%, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble metallic salt, aqueous carrier and wherein said composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric and wherein said composition is essentially free of perfume and has a pH of greater than about 3.

Abstract:
Fabric softening compositions, preferably in liquid form, for use in the rinse cycle of home laundry operations are improved by: (a) using certain protected water sensitive materials, especially particulate complexes of cyclodextrins and perfumes, which are protected in fabric softening compositions and/or detergent compositions, by e.g., imbedding said particulate complex in relatively high melting protective material that is substantially water-insoluble and, preferably, non-water-swellable and is solid at normal storage conditions, but which melts at the temperatures encountered in automatic fabric dryers (laundry dryers); (b) using soil release polymers to help suspend water-insoluble particles in aqueous fabric softening compositions; and/or (c) preparing the said protected particulate water sensitive materials (complexes) by melting the said high melting materials, dispersing the said particulate complexes, or other water sensitive material, in the molten high melting protective material and dispersing the resulting molten mixture in aqueous media, especially surfactant solution or aqueous fabric softener composition, and cooling to form small, smooth, spherical particles of the particulate complexes, or other water sensitive material, substantially protected by the high melting material.
Abstract:
An effective amount of perfume/cyclodextrin complex is applied to fabric that is preferably at least partially wetted. A preferred method applies said complex to said fabric in an automatic laundry dryer. The perfume/cyclodextrin complexes are preferably incorporated into solid, dryer-activated, fabric treatment (conditioning) compositions, preferably containing fabric softeners, more preferably cationic and/or nonionic fabric softeners. The complexes provide fabrics with perfume benefits when they are rewetted after drying. Volatile perfume materials, including those materials that are commonly associated with "freshness" can be applied to the fabrics in an effective way. Clay provides protection for said perfume/cyclodextrin complexes, especially when certain materials like some nonionic fabric softeners and/or fatty acids are present and in contact with said perfume/cyclodextrin complexes.

Abstract:
Polymeric soil release agents that have high viscosities when molten are difficult to process. Certain organic materials can be added to such agents to lower the viscosity and improve processing. Examples of such organic materials include fatty acids, some nonionic ethylene glycol derivatives, polyethylene or polypropylene glycols and their short alkyl chain ethers, certain polyhydroxy and alkyl ether solvents, and aryl ethers of propylene glycol.
Abstract:
A substantially nonabrasive, liquid car cleaner composition which cleans car surfaces without an external source of water to wash or rinse. The product is a composition of up to 30% polymeric solids, up to 95% liquid carrier and a suspension aid. It is good for cleaning painted, metal and vinyl surfaces. It does not leave unsightly residue embedded in the texture of vinyl surfaces. A container/applicator kit comprising a bristled fibrous pad and container is also provided.
