Abstract: Systems and techniques relating to wireless networking, namely employing power management (PM) indication mechanisms in addition to ROM indication mechanisms so as to support ROM related outage period enhancements, include: transmitting a first data frame, wherein a format of the first data frame comprises: (i) a field indicating a change in receive operation mode (ROM) settings, and (ii) a subfield having a value indicating a power management mode of the wireless device; receiving an acknowledgement frame to enable a power management mode associated with the subfield in the first frame, the acknowledgement frame having been transmitted by a second wireless device in response to receiving the first frame by the second wireless device, wherein the power management mode delays transmission of additional frames to the first wireless device until receiving a second data frame having a value indicating a change in the power management mode.

Abstract: Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes transmitting a signal to cause wireless devices to concurrently transmit sounding packets on different subcarriers within a frequency band during a multi-user uplink transmission; receiving, concurrently, sounding packets from the wireless devices on the different subcarriers within the frequency band during the multi-user uplink transmission; determining subcarrier channel qualities based on the sounding packets; and assigning the subcarriers among the wireless devices for a subsequent multi-user uplink transmission based on the subcarrier channel qualities.

Abstract: A first communication device receives a packet that includes scheduling information for a range measurement signal exchange session between a second communication device and a third communication device. The first communication device determines when the range measurement signal exchange session will occur using the scheduling information in the packet, and observes the range measurement signal exchange session. The first communication device performs an initial analysis of the range measurement packets by analyzing transmitter addresses in the range measurement packets to determine whether to further process the range measurement packets for range measurement purposes, and determines range measurements based on observing the one range measurement signal exchange session.

Abstract: A method for transmitting an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) data unit is described. Respective sub-channels of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication channel are allocated to first and second communication devices for simultaneous OFDM transmission. A first sub-channel is allocated to the first communication device and a second sub-channel is allocated to the second communication device. Indications of the respective allocated sub-channels are transmitted to the first and second communication devices. A medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (MPDU) is generated that omits i) a MAC address of a transmitter, and ii) a MAC address of the first communication device. An OFDMA data unit including the MPDU is transmitted by the transmitter via the first sub-channel to the first communication device.

Abstract: Receiving devices and methods for suppressing interference from a data signal received at a receiving device are provided. The receiving device has m receive antennas. A training signal set transmitted from a first transmitting device is received at the receiving device. The training signal set includes (i) data for each transmit antenna of n transmit antennas included on the first transmitting device and (ii) information sufficient to determine a channel estimate corresponding to a communication channel between the first transmitting device and the receiving device. The channel estimate is determined based on the training signal set. The channel estimate includes an m-by-n description of the communication channel. The data signal received at the receiving device is filtered based on the channel estimate to suppress the interference in the data signal. The data signal is transmitted from a second transmitting device different from the first transmitting device.

Abstract: A communication device receives a trigger frame from an access point, the trigger frame configured to prompt the communication device to simultaneously transmit with one or more other communication devices as part of a multi-user uplink transmission. The communication device determines carrier frequency offset (CFO) information based on the trigger frame, and transmits the CFO information to the access point in response to the trigger frame so that the access point can use the CFO to process the multi-user uplink transmission.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure there is provided a method for carrier sensing. The method includes receiving, at a wireless receiver, an input signal, and generating, based on a sampling period, a plurality of data samples from the input signal. The method further includes periodically combining a first data sample from the plurality of data samples with a second data sample that is one or more sampling periods before the first data sample to generate a combined data sample. The method further includes generating an auto-correlated output for carrier sensing based on the combined data sample. The auto-correlated output is provided to generate an estimate of phase difference between the first sample and the second sample for the periodic combining.

Abstract: An access point including a receiving module to receive first information indicating whether a first device supports a dynamic clear channel assessment (CCA) capability, which includes an ability to dynamically change a CCA threshold in a frequency channel to detect whether a medium is idle or busy. A CCA module generates second information in response to receiving the first information about the first device. The second information is based on the first information and indicates a CCA method used by the access point in response to receiving the first information. A transmitting module transmits the second information in response to receiving the first information about the first device. The second information is usable by one or more devices associated with the access point in a basic service set of the access point to select respective CCA procedures to detect whether the medium is idle or busy.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a resource request for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) transmission is described. A resource request field that indicates buffer information corresponding to queued media access control (MAC) protocol data units (MPDUs) that are queued for transmission by a first communication device is generated. The resource request field includes i) a scale factor subfield that indicates a scale value, and ii) a resource subfield that indicates a base resource value. A resource request MPDU including the resource request field is generated. The resource request MPDU is transmitted to a second communication device via a wireless communication channel to request an allocation of radio resources for the OFDMA transmission. The buffer information is i) a number of bytes indicated by the scale value multiplied by the base resource value, or ii) a transmission opportunity duration indicated by the scale value multiplied by the base resource value.

Further, the data unit is generated to include i) the CRC for the second signal field and ii) a preamble having a) the first signal field, b) the CRC for the first signal field, and c) the second signal field.
