Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to performing random access procedures. A base station (BS) receives, from a user equipment (UE), a plurality of random access preambles from a plurality of beam directions, wherein each of the plurality of random access preambles is received from a different beam direction, and wherein the plurality of random access preambles are associated with multiple random access opportunities of a random access attempt. The BS sends, in response to the plurality of random access preambles, a plurality of random access response (RAR) messages in the plurality of beam directions.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to use of a default communication configuration for cross carrier wireless communication. For example, a wireless communication device such as a user equipment (UE) may use a default communication configuration that includes quasi-colocation information (e.g., a default CORESET configuration) for communication on a secondary component carrier (SCC). The default communication configuration may be used, for example, in scenarios where a CORESET is not defined for the SCC and other configuration information is not available. For example, other configuration information might not be available due to a short time gap between a grant sent on a primary component carrier (PCC) and the communication on the SCC scheduled by the grant.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to synchronization signal (SS) transmission coordination among base stations (BSs) and restricted SS measurements at user equipments (UEs) are provided. A first BS transmits a first SS burst in a first SS transmission period of a plurality of SS transmission periods. The first SS transmission period is designated to the first BS. A second SS transmission period of the plurality of SS transmission periods is designated to a second BS. The first SS transmission period and the second SS transmission period are different. The first BS receives, from a UE, a first signal in synchronization with the first SS burst. The first signal includes a SS measurement of the first SS burst.

A base station may transmit a configuration indicating a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state switching pattern and a TCI state switching period to a user equipment (UE). The UE may perform TCI state switching according to the TCI state switching pattern and period, and the UE may receive a downlink transmission according to the TCI state switching pattern. The UE may receive a downlink control information (DCI) including an indication of a TCI state for a subsequent TTI. The UE may receive the downlink signal in accordance with both the TCI state switching pattern and the indication in the DCI. The UE may receive a configuration message indicating a first DCI state, receive a DCI indicating a second TCI state for a subsequent TTI, switch to the second TCI state, and receive a downlink signal using the second TCI state.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to transition to communicating on a first bandwidth part from communicating on a second bandwidth part. In order to ensure that the UE is able to perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part, after transitioning to communicating on the first bandwidth part, the UE may be configured to perform receiver processing using reference signals received on the second bandwidth part. That is, for a configured period of time, before the UE is able to perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part using reference signals received on the first bandwidth part, the UE may perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part using reference signals received on the second bandwidth part.

Abstract: Various aspects and features described herein relate to methods for beam failure recovery in a SCell with assistance from a PCell. In an aspect, an apparatus (e.g., a UE) may detect an SCell beam failure, and send a scheduling request in response to detection of the SCell beam failure to a base station via a PCell. The UE may receive a first message including one of an uplink grant or a trigger for an UL report from the base station via the PCell. The UE may send a second message via the PCell indicating the SCell beam failure and a preferred candidate beam associated with the SCell. The UE may receive CORESET TCI state activation from the base station via the PCell, and determine, based on the CORESET TCI state activation signal, a control channel associated with the preferred candidate beam.
