Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for synchronization for wideband coverage enhancement. A user equipment (UE) may receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) in a subframe. In one example, the SSS may be received in a symbol that is after a symbol in which the PSS is received, and after a set of symbols in which a set of other synchronization signals is received. In another example, the PSS may be received in each of a first plurality of consecutive symbols, and the SSS may be received in each of a second plurality of consecutive symbols, wherein the second plurality of consecutive symbols is after the first plurality of consecutive symbols within the subframe. The UE may synchronize with a base station based at least in part on the PSS and the SSS. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
In enhanced licensed assisted access (eLAA), providing several approaches to report the CSI measurement may be desirable to provide flexibility in CSI reporting, especially in aperiodic CSI reporting. Further, a difference in using a licensed carrier and an unlicensed carrier may be considered during communication. In addition, assigning different transmit power usage based on different transmission types may be desired. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus may be a UE. The UE receives a grant for uplink communication. The UE determines a reporting subframe based on the grant. The UE determines whether to select, as a reference subframe, a triggering subframe in which the grant is received or a subframe before the reporting subframe. The UE transmits, in the reporting subframe, channel state information (CSI) measured in the reference subframe.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. A base station transmits a provisional grant uplink assignment to a set of UEs. When a UE receives the provisional grant uplink assignment, the UE performs a clear channel assessment (CCA) operation on a secondary component carrier (SCC) based on the provisional grant UL assignment, the SCC being a contention-based carrier. Then, the UE transmits a schedule request (SR) on the SCC when the CCA operation succeeds. The base station transmits grant confirmation(s) on the SCC in response to the detected SR(s). Once the UE receives a grant confirmation on the SCC in response to the SR, the UE transmits data on the SCC.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for wireless communication in the unlicensed spectrum between an eNB and UEs having different bandwidths, e.g., between a narrowband UE and a wideband eNB. A user equipment apparatus segments an uplink duration in each frame into multiple transmission units for each frequency, wherein a frame comprises an integer number of the transmission units. The apparatus transmits uplink communication based on the multiple transmission units, wherein each transmission unit comprises at least one on period and at least one off period corresponding to each of a plurality of frequencies, wherein during an on period the UE transmits uplink communication on the corresponding frequency and during an off period the UE refrains from transmitting uplink communication on the corresponding frequency. Each transmission unit may comprise multiple on periods and multiple off periods. The on/off periods may be configured by a base station or specified for each frame type.

Abstract:
Various aspects of utilizing narrowband internet of things (NB IOT) communication are still under development. According to an aspect of the disclosure, the apparatus may be a user equipment (UE) for wireless communication via narrowband internet of things (NB IOT) in an unlicensed spectrum using frequency hopping and digital modulation. The UE performs a synchronization with a base station via at least one of a licensed spectrum or the unlicensed spectrum. The UE communicates with the base station based on the synchronization.
Abstract:
Aspects described herein relate to managing blind decoding of a control channel search space. A number of blind decodes configured for a control channel search space can be determined based at least in part on one or more parameters broadcasted by a access point that transmits a control channel in the control channel search space. One or more reduction values can be determined for the number of blind decodes at the UE. A pattern for performing a subset of the number of blind decodes can be determined based at least in part on the one or more reduction values. Blind decoding can be performed for the control channel based on the pattern for performing the subset of the number of blind decodes to obtain control data transmitted in the control channel.
Abstract:
Various aspects related to techniques for harmonization between common reference signal (CRS) and demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) based transmission modes (TMs) in unlicensed spectrum are described. In one aspect, a downlink/uplink (DL/UL) subframe configuration may be signaled for each subframe. Information provided by the DL/UL subframe configuration may indicate whether the respective downlink subframe is a single-frequency network (MBSFN) subframe (associated with DM-RS-based TM) or a non-MBSFN subframe (associated with CRS-based TM). In another aspect, periodic as well as aperiodic channel state information (CSI) reporting requests may be supported. In yet another aspect, discontinued reception (DRX) wake ups for unlicensed carriers may be explicitly or implicitly indicated to a user equipment (UE) via a carrier in a licensed spectrum.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. An eNB transmits an indicator for a frame identifying a DL transmission period. The indicator may comprise a frame format indicator identifying only a plurality of downlink subframes scheduled for a contention-based carrier. The eNB may transmit a second indicator for an UL transmission period and may grant a UE at least one UL subframe for UL transmission. The UE monitors for an UL grant and for a D-CUBS at either the end of the DL subframes or after an UL assignment. The eNB may transmit a provisional grant UL assignment for UL transmission on an SCC and respond with a grant confirmation in response to an SR granting the UE resources for UL data transmission.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for transmitting and discovering timing information during wireless communications are described herein. In an aspect, the systems and methods include monitoring at a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band for a discovery signal from a network entity; receiving the discovery signal during a subframe from the network entity; and determining a current subframe location of the network entity based on the discovery signal, wherein the discovery signal includes timing information corresponding to the current subframe location.
