Abstract:
In an ionizer of an exhaust gas ionization system for ionizing moisture-laden gases in a channel comprising a nozzle plate having circular nozzle openings through which the gases are conducted, a high voltage electrode support grid arranged downstream of the nozzle plate and having electrode pins extending toward the nozzle openings and carrying at their free ends star structures with a number of tips projecting radially toward the circumference of the nozzle openings and being electrically charged for ionizing the moisture laden gases flowing through the nozzle openings past the star structures, the nozzle openings are sufficiently large to cause the gas flow to be slow enough to permit water to flow down along the walls of the nozzle openings against the upward flow of the gases through the nozzle openings.
Abstract:
In a method of measuring particles floating in an atmosphere, the atmosphere containing the particles is sucked into a container, ions are generated from a discharge electrode disposed in the container to charge the particles with the ions. A dust-collecting electrode is arranged in the container to electrically conduct with a ground potential, wherein the dust collecting electrode is formed of a transparent plate having a transparent conductive film on a surface thereof facing the discharge electrode. The charged particles are collected on the dust-collecting electrode disposed in the container by using a potential difference relative to the discharge electrode, and the particles on the dust-collecting electrode are measured.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for manufacturing particles using corona discharge is disclosed. A discharge electrode is provided within a guide duct and reaction gases are supplied into the guide duct. A high voltage is applied to the discharge electrode and a low voltage is applied to the guide duct to generate a voltage difference therebetween. When heat energy is applied to the reaction gases, chemical reactions occur in the gases and particles are made by the chemical reactions. The particles form new particles centering around ions as nuclei which are generated by corona discharge and moves along the guide duct. A collecting plate positioned in front of the guide duct collects the particles.
Abstract:
A surface discharge type air cleaning device comprises an insulating dielectric body formed in the shape of a sheet, a discharge electrode formed at the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body, and a ground electrode formed at the lower surface of the insulating dielectric body. The discharge electrode is formed of a closed pattern having a predetermined area on the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body, and the discharge electrode has at least one non-pattern part disposed in a part where the pattern is formed. The electrode is not formed at the non-pattern part. The pattern of the discharge electrode is formed in the depressed structure. Consequently, it is possible to lower onset voltage and input energy and to accomplish uniform and stable plasma formation, and therefore, the number of hydroxyl radicals and negative ions is increased while the amount of ozone is decreased.

A multistage space-efficient electrostatic collector cleans a gas flowing therethrough along a gas flow path having a first stage provided by a first corona discharge zone along the gas flow path, and a second stage provided by a second corona discharge zone along the gas flow path and spaced along the gas flow path from the first corona discharge zone. A method is provided for increasing residence time within the corona discharge zone of gas flowing through an electrostatic collector.

A discharge electrode for an electrostatic precipitator comprises a collar having two oppositely disposed arms extending radially therefrom, with each radially extending arm terminating in a number of tines at the free end thereof. Each tine is pointed and is curved relative to a plane of the oppositely disposed radially extending arms. Adjacent pairs of tines are oppositely curved relative to the plane of the radially extending arms. The discharge electrode is a single metal pressing. A number of discharge electrodes are securable to an elongate shaft along its length, in an equidistant configuration, to form an electrode discharge assembly for an electrostatic precipitator. The discharge electrodes are securable to the shaft by means of tack welding.
Abstract:
A collecting device for collecting particles floating in the atmosphere includes a collecting container; a pump for sucking the atmosphere into the collecting container; a discharge electrode disposed in the collecting container for generating single polarity ions to charge the particles in the collecting container; and a dust-collecting electrode for collecting the charged particles in the collecting container through a potential difference between the discharge electrode and the dust-collecting electrode. The dust on the dust-collecting electrode is measured and analyzed.
Abstract:
A sintered stainless steel filter is used as the grounded electrode of a point-to-plane electrostatic precipitator. Particles flow through, rather than parallel to, the collection plate. Particle collection efficiency is empirically shown to increase as the charged particles are drawn closer to the grounded filter. The utilization of stainless steel fiber filter provides (1) low particle penetration (high particle collection efficiency) of different particle range, (2) applicability to all different particulate components, (3) high loading capacity but low pressure drop (less energy and maintenance needed), (5) low electric voltage for operating the system, and (6) low cost and small dimension.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a method and an arrangement for purifying the intake air of a gas turbine of solid particles and liquid droplets. According to the invention air is taken into the system of intake air passages (1, 2, 4) of the gas turbine and the particles contained in the intake air are collected by means of at least one plate filter (3) to which a collection voltage has been connected. In order to enable and enhance collection, the air is taken into at least one charging chamber (2) arranged at a distance prior to the plate filters (3) in the flow direction of the air, where an electric field is formed between at least two electrodes (5, 7) by connecting a voltage between the electrodes which exceeds the collection voltage, whereby powerful charging of the particles and at least partial removal of the water contained in the air are effected.
