摘要: Systems and methods for producing hydrogen and solid carbon from gaseous feedstock. The system includes a plasma reactor configured to receive and convert feedstock comprising hydrocarbons into acetylene-containing feed stream, and a refractory coupled to the plasma reactor that is configured to receive and decompose acetylene to hydrogen and solid carbon. The system is further configured to deliver one or more auxiliary feedstock comprising hydrocarbons directly to the refractory for decomposition into hydrogen and carbon. The energy required to decompose the auxiliary feedstock is provided by the energy released from decomposition of acetylene in the refractory.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a photoreactor for performing photocatalytic reactions with a particulate photocatalyst loaded in the reactor. The photoreactor includes an internal wall having an outer surface and defining an interior volume, and a transparent external wall having an outer surface and an opposing inner surface. The internal and external walls are spaced apart so that they together define a reaction volume between the walls. The photoreactor further includes an external light transmission apparatus, such as a light source and/or a light guide, positioned around the external wall and being adapted to transmit light through the external and into the reaction volume. When a particulate photocatalyst loaded in the reaction volume is irradiated by external light transmission apparatus while a reactant is flowing through the reaction volume, a photocatalytic reaction can be performed to form a desired reaction product.

摘要: A gas processing system includes an input gas supply, an output gas storage container and/or an inlet to a secondary reactor, and a solar-thermal reactor. The solar-thermal reactor uses a solar collector to focus sunlight onto a reactor, the reactor having a housing that encloses a reaction chamber, a catalyst arranged therein, an inlet for receiving the input gas and an outlet for expelling the output gas. Sunlight is focused by the solar collector to heat the reactor and thereby chemically convert the input gas from the gas supply into the output gas that can be stored in the output gas container or directed towards the secondary reactor.

摘要: An apparatus for forming methane from carbon dioxide and hydrogen is described. The apparatus comprises: a dielectric barrier discharge, DBD, device arranged to generate a plasma; and a passageway having an inlet for the carbon dioxide and the hydrogen and an outlet for the methane and including therein a catalyst comprising nickel and alumina. The passageway extends, at least in part, through the DBD device wherein, in use, the carbon dioxide is exposed to the catalyst in the presence of the hydrogen in the generated plasma, thereby forming the methane from at least some of the carbon dioxide and the hydrogen. A method, a use and a catalyst are also described.

摘要: In an apparatus producing hydrogen gas by the decomposition reaction of water using photocatalyst, its miniaturization is achieved while suppressing the decrease of production efficiency of hydrogen gas as low as possible or improving the efficiency. The apparatus 1 comprises a container portion 2 receiving water W; a photocatalyst member 3 immersed in the water, having photocatalyst which generates excited electrons and positive holes when irradiated with light, causes a decomposition reaction of the water and generates hydrogen gas; a light source 4 emitting the light irradiated to the photocatalyst member; and a heat exchange device 7 conducting waste heat of the light source to the water in the container portion; wherein the water to be decomposed on the photocatalyst member in the container portion is warmed by the waste heat of the light source by the heat exchange device.
