Abstract:
A broadcast reception system or display system is combined with a computer. The reception system includes a receiver that is integrated with a computer, e.g. personal computer. The receiver may be configured to receive analog FM signals and linked data transmitted according to at least one of the RDS and MBS standards. The data serves as a data trigger to provide the user with a prompt on the computer system. The prompt may be utilized to access information related to the primary radio broadcast and previously stored at a memory location, such as a computer disk drive, CD or floppy disk. This permits a user to quickly and easily access large amounts of information relevant to the current programming of a given radio station or to purchase music, goods and services as they are featured in the FM broadcast.

Abstract:
A receiver which includes a control circuit (7) for delivering encoded messages, derived from a radio signal, to at least one storage device (12, 28), for receiving control data, derived from the encoded messages, from at least one storage device (12, 28), and for forming a speech text for an audio circuit (69) and a display text for a display device (13) from the control data. In order to achieve an acceptable speech text quality, a speech segment memory (14) for storing predetermined speech segments of at least one language is coupled to the control circuit (7). The control circuit (7) forms a speech text with at least a part of the message for which speech segments are stored in the speech segment memory (14). The control circuit (7) is also arranged to form a display text with at least all parts of the message which are not contained in the speech text and for which no speech segments are present in the speech segment memory (14).
Abstract:
A method for selecting digital traffic messages in a radio receiver, with traffic messages concerning previously selected routes and corridors along the routes being selected and output.
Abstract:
A description is given of a radio receiver, in particular a VHF receiver, including a receiver stage, an evaluation stage, a memory stage, an operating element, a display element and a control unit. A database of stations which meet predetermined receiving criteria is stored by the control unit in the memory stage. Updating this database is subject to different preconditions, and requires only one receiver stage. The operating element can be used to call the desired stations from the database, in a sequence determined in accordance with different criteria, and these stations can be set to reproduce the radio signals.
Abstract:
The present invention is a digital FM voice paging system which uses digital signal processing (including D/A conversion and data compression) to transmit voice pager data over existing FM broadcast subcarriers.
Abstract:
A receiver is provided capable of receiving both RDS (Radio Data System) and DARC (DAta Radio Channel) system FM multiplex broadcasting. An RDS signal demodulating circuit is provided with a PLL circuit which comprising a first frequency divider for dividing an output of a crystal oscillator, a phase comparator for inputting an output of the first frequency divider, a low-pass filter connected with the phase comparator, a VCO connected with the low-pass filter, and a second frequency divider for dividing an output of the VOC and outputting the divided output signal to the phase comparator. An output of the VCO is transmitted as a reference clock RDSCL for demodulation of an RDS signal.
Abstract:
A radio receiver includes a first tuner circuit (1) for receiving radio signals of a first and a second frequency range, and a second tuner circuit (2) for receiving radio signals of a third frequency range. The second tuner circuit (2) is also used for receiving the first frequency range and works independently of the first tuner circuit (1), in that the second tuner circuit (2) includes a first mixer circuit (35, 36, 37) which converts the radio signals of the third frequency range to the second frequency range, and a first integrated circuit element (5) which alternatively converts radio signals of the first frequency range to a first intermediate frequency, or the radio signals of the third frequency range converted to the second frequency range by the first mixer circuit (35, 36, 37) to a second intermediate frequency. The second tuner circuit (2) may derive coded information, more particularly, traffic information from the radio signals of the first frequency range.
Abstract:
A system for transferring data in group, wherein groups have group identifiers for distinguishing groups comprising different data types. A group can be reassigned to carry a different type of data by transmitting in special groups having a predetermined group identifier, group identifiers and data type identifiers for linking respective group identifiers to respective data types. By transmitting a new data type identifier for certain group identifier that particular group is re-assigned to carry a new data type. This allows the use of a group for a plurality of data types, which is especially useful in the Radio Data System.
Abstract:
A process and a device for displaying the transmitter name and type of program transmitted by a radio transmitter in a digital data telegram on the radio receiver display during a search run and where a timing element controls the display of information.
