The valve control unit includes a first control containing a first pulse-width modulator for providing a first pulse-width modulation signal, a second control containing a second pulse-width modulator for providing, a second pulse-width modulation signal, a mode detector, and a selector connected to the first and second pulse-width modulator for selecting in dependence of the mode detector the executing pulse-width modulation signal.
Abstract:
A method for locating a fault in three terminal power line, having sections located in front of or behind of the tap point and which assumes occurrence of the fault in at least one of those sections. Three phase currents and voltages are measured at one end of the power lines system. The amplitudes of load currents in the remaining sections of the power lines system are measured before a fault occurs. The measurements of the amplitudes of load currents are stored in the remaining sections of the power lines system. Impedance data of the network are determined. The symmetrical components approach is used when calculating the location of the fault.
Abstract:
A power capacitor including at least one capacitor element enclosed in a container, wherein the container is of a material which substantially includes a first polymer material. Further, the container is cylindrical and provided in its surface with creepage distance extending protrusions of a second polymer material. The protrusions are formed with respect to their thickness and radial length so as to cool the capacitor. In a method for manufacturing such a power capacitor, a substantially cylindrical container is made of a material which substantially includes a first polymer material. The container is provided on its envelope surface with creepage distance-extending protrusions of a second polymer material and the capacitor elements are encapsulated in the container.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for condition diagnosing of a tap changer immersed in a cooling fluid, controlling and regulating an inductive power device, such as a transformer or reactor. The diagnosing method compares and evaluates expected heat exchanges between the tap changer and ambient air and the inductive power device, an expected amount of heat generated by the tap changer during operation, together with an actual temperature of the fluid. From the actual temperature, expected heat exchanges and expected generated heat, the heat balance in the system may be obtained and is used for disgnosing the operation conditions of the tap changer. The results from the condition diagnosing may be used as indicators that can alarm operators or may be sent as a data signal to remote and/or portable display means, such as a computer.
Abstract:
A method for providing means for energizing a capacitive load. The capacitive load is connected to an alternating current power source by using a connecting device. The connecting device comprises at least one diode and connecting organs, which can be closed or open.
Abstract:
A circuit breaking arrangement is disclosed, which is adapted to be coupled to a transmission line arranged to carry direct current for controllably effecting discontinuation of flow of direct current in the transmission line. The circuit breaking arrangement includes a current interrupter unit adapted to, when actuated, interrupt current in the transmission line and a first resonance circuit and at least a second resonance circuit. Each of the first and the at least a second resonance circuit is adapted to, upon actuation of the current interrupter unit and when the respective resonance circuit is activated, generate a resonance current superposing current of any arc generated in the current interrupter unit after actuation thereof. At least during a predefined period immediately after actuation of the current interrupter unit a resonance current that has been generated by the first resonance circuit flows into the current interrupter unit from a different direction than a resonance current generated by the second resonance circuit would have, or vice versa.
