Abstract: A terminal unit of a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a fan configured to provide an airflow through the HVAC unit by drawing the airflow into a fan inlet and expelling the airflow out of a fan outlet. The terminal unit also includes an inlet diffuser disposed upstream of the fan inlet relative to a direction of the airflow, wherein the inlet diffuser includes a first layer of perforated metal and a second layer of perforated metal disposed between the first layer of perforated metal and the fan inlet.

Abstract: A building HVAC system includes an airside system having a plurality of airside subsystems, a high-level model predictive controller (MPC), and a plurality of low-level airside MPCs. Each airside subsystem includes airside HVAC equipment configured to provide heating or cooling to the airside subsystem. The high-level MPC is configured to perform a high-level optimization to generate an optimal airside subsystem load profile for each airside subsystem. The optimal airside subsystem load profiles optimize energy cost. Each of the low-level airside MPCs corresponds to one of the airside subsystems and is configured to perform a low-level optimization to generate optimal airside temperature setpoints for the corresponding airside subsystem using the optimal airside subsystem load profile for the corresponding airside subsystem. Each of the low-level airside MPCs is configured to use the optimal airside temperature setpoints for the corresponding airside subsystem to operate the airside HVAC equipment of the corresponding airside subsystem.

Abstract: A risk management system includes one or more computer-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform natural language processing to categorize threats to assets and perform correlated risk analyses for threats. The instructions cause the one or more processors generate risk scores for assets using threat data and one or more asset risk profiles reflecting characteristics of the assets, the risk scores weighted based on impact weights of threats. Abstract: A central plant includes storage devices configured to store resources purchased from a utility or generated by the central plant and to discharge the one or more resources. The central plant includes a controller configured to obtain a cost function comprising a peak load contribution (PLC) term representing a cost based on an amount of the one or more resources purchased during coincidental peak (CP) subperiods. The controller is configured to modify the cost function by applying a peak subperiods mask to the PLC term, wherein, for each subperiod, the peak subperiods mask modifies a portion of the PLC term corresponding to the subperiod based on a probability that the subperiod will be one of the CP subperiods. The controller is also configured to perform an optimization of the modified cost function.

Abstract: A method for controlling equipment includes grouping a plurality of granular assets to form one or more general assets and generating models of the general assets based on the granular assets that form the general assets. Each model corresponds to a general asset and defines a relationship between resources produced by the general asset and resources consumed by the general asset. The method includes performing a first control process using the models of the general assets to determine a first allocation of resources among the general assets. The first allocation defines amounts of the resources to be consumed, produced, or stored by each of the general assets. The method includes operating the equipment to consume, produce, or store the resources in accordance with the first allocation.
