    Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of preventing misdetermination of a type of printing paper includes a transmitted light receiver, a specularly reflected light receiver, and a diffusively reflected light receiver, which constitute a sensor, and an output determiner that determines whether data output by the plurality of light receivers is normal. The image forming apparatus determines the type of printing paper and an abnormality of the printing paper from the determination by the output determiner.

    Abstract: A development cartridge attachable to and detachable from a main body of an image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive unit including a photosensitive drum, a developing unit including a developing roller and rotatably coupled to the photosensitive unit with respect to a hinge axis, a driving gear configured to rotate in a first direction for a printing operation or a second direction opposite the first direction, a driving member positioned coaxially with the driving gear and configured to be rotated by the driving gear, a first one-way clutch configured to connect the driving member with the driving gear only when the driving gear rotates in the second direction, and a first moving member configured to be connected to the driving member so as to reciprocate between a first location where a development nip is formed and a second location where the development nip is released.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image, the toner comprising a plurality of toner particles, each toner particle includes: a core particle that contains a binding resin, a coloring agent, and a releasing agent; and an external additive attached to the surface of the core particle, wherein the toner has two endothermic peaks in a heat curve, which is obtained at the time of the secondary temperature rise in differential scanning calorimetry of the toner, and a stepped endothermic curve; and first and second melting temperatures, which are determined to be the locations of vertices of the two endothermic peaks, a glass transition temperature, which is determined to be the midpoint of a linear portion of the stepped endothermic curve, and first and second heat of melting, which are determined to be the areas of the two endothermic peaks, satisfy the condition set forth herein.

    Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method of detecting an error in the apparatus. The apparatus includes an image former and an induction heating fusing device. The image former forms an image. The induction heating fusing device fuses the image formed by the image former onto paper. Whether the apparatus has an error is determined by limiting a current applied to a resonance circuit included in the induction heating fusing device to less than a certain level.
