The broadcast signal receiver according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a synchronization and demodulation module configured to perform detection and OFDM demodulation on a received broadcast signal, a frame parsing and deinterleaving module configured to parse and deinterleave the signal frame of the broadcast signal, a demapping and decoding module configured to convert the data of at least one Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) of the broadcast signal into a bit domain and to FEC-decode the PLP data, and an output processing module configured to receive the data of the at least one PLP and to output the received data in a data stream form.

The apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals comprises an encoder for encoding service data, a mapper for mapping the encoded service data into a plurality of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) symbols to build at least one signal frame, a frequency interleaver for frequency interleaving data in the at least one signal frame by using a different interleaving-seed which is used for every OFDM symbol pair comprised of two sequential OFDM symbols, a modulator for modulating the frequency interleaved data by an OFDM scheme and a transmitter for transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.

The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, formatting input streams into Data Pipe, DP, data; Low-Density Parity-Check, LDPC, encoding the DP data according to a code rate; bit interleaving the LDPC encoded DP data; mapping the bit interleaved DP data onto constellations according to one of QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), NUQ (Non-Uniform QAM) or NUC (Non-Uniform Constellation); Multi-Input Multi-Output, MIMO, encoding the mapped DP data by using a MIMO encoding matrix having a MIMO encoding parameter; building at least one signal frame by mapping the MIMO encoded DP data; and modulating data in the built signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM, method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.

The present invention provides a method for transmitting broadcast signal. The method for transmitting a broadcast signal according to the present invention comprises the steps of: demultiplexing at least one input stream into a plurality of DPs (Data Pipes) wherein the step of demultiplexing includes the steps of dividing the input stream into a plurality of DPs in which data of the plurality of DPs include one or more consecutive input packets, segmenting the data of the plurality of DPs into data units each having the same length as that of a payload of a BB frame, cyclic-shifting the input packets of the divided data, allocating the cyclic-shifted input packets to the payload of the BB frame, and inserting a header before the payload of the BB frame; and processing and transmitting the data of the plurality of DPs per DP.
