Abstract: In an aspect, a scheduled entity obtains a first set of indications associated with a beam failure recovery procedure, starts at least one of a first timer or a second timer based on the obtained first set of indications, and detects a radio link failure when the first timer expires or when the second timer expires. In some aspects, the scheduled entity starts at least one of the first timer or the second timer when N out-of-sync indications are obtained over a network configured time window, the N out-of-sync indications including aperiodic out-of-sync indications from the first set of indications and out-of-sync indications associated with a radio link monitoring procedure. In some aspects, the scheduled entity starts at least the second timer when the first set of indications includes a single aperiodic out-of-sync indication.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for identifying a mismatch between a user's common search space (CSS) and user-specific search space (USS). A base station (BS) may receive an indication that a user equipment (UE) decoded at least one beamformed signal transmitted by the BS in a USS and did not decode at least one beamformed signal transmitted by the BS in a CSS. The BS may take one or more actions based, at least in part, on the indication. Similarly, a UE may decode at least one beamformed signal transmitted by a BS in a USS, transmit to the BS an indication that the UE decoded the at least one beamformed signal transmitted in the USS and did not decode at least one beamformed signal transmitted by the BS in a CSS, and take one or more actions based, at least in part, on the indication.

Abstract: A control resource region of an New Radio system slot structure may be separated into control resource sets, only some of which may be used for control transmissions. Aspects presented herein improve the efficient utilization of resources by enabling data transmission in resources of the DL control resource region and/or the UL control resource region. A UE receives an indication of a control resource set in a control resource region of a slot that may provide a control channel resource or a data channel resource and performs rate matching for data transmissions in the data channel based at least in part on the indication. The indication may be a semi-static indication, e.g., RRC signaling, of the control resource set.

In some aspects, a base station may determine that a signal characteristic of a unicast signal associated with a user equipment (UE) is better than a signal characteristic of a broadcast signal broadcasted by the base station; and/or transmit, based on the determination, an update to a master information block (MIB) or a minimum system information block (MSIB) to the UE using the unicast signal. Abstract: A user equipment apparatus determines whether a transmission is received from a base station within a time window and skips measurement of a reference signal during a subsequent period, when a transmission is received from the base station within the time window. A base station apparatus configures a UE to monitor one or more reference signals associated with a beam pair link and transmits a first signal in a transmission to the UE. The base station determines whether the transmission is received at the UE within a time window and determines whether to transmit a reference signal, based on whether the transmission is received at the UE within the time window. Upon determining that the transmission was received at the UE, the base station may skip transmission of the reference signal or modify a time, a frequency, a power, and/or a reference signal offset for the reference signal.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods of beam switching are presented. A beam switch message (BSM) is transmitted to a second device via a first beam set. The BSM includes a command to switch from communication via the first beam set to communication via a second beam set at a switch time. It is determined whether a response message is received from the second device via the first beam set, the response message indicating that the second device received the BSM. A communication is sent to the second device via the second beam set after the switch time when the response message is unreceived.
