Abstract:
The invention relates to a tipping actuator for a conveyor system that comprises a plurality of article carriers moving on an endless conveyor in a conveying direction, each article carrier having a carrier frame for bearing an article, the carrier frame being pivotally mounted on the article carrier and operable to tip to enable discharge of the article borne on the carrier frame. The tipping actuator comprises a trigger member for contacting the article carriers to tip them and is configured such that, when in a non-contact position, the article carriers are able to at least partly tip towards the trigger member such that the contact portion of the trigger member is received by a portion of the article carrier. In another embodiment, a contact portion of the trigger is sloped with two different gradients. An electromagnet may be used to cause actuation of the trigger. The tipping actuator may be able to allow tipping in opposite directions of adjacent carriers, for example in some embodiments the trigger may be formed of upstream and downstream parts.
Abstract:
The present subject matter relates to article carriers and related methods for use in grading apparatus and in particular, but not exclusively, for use in grading fruit. The present subject matter provides an article carrying apparatus comprising a plurality of carrier lanes each for receiving and conveying a number of articles; one or more diverters arranged to control the distribution of received articles into the lanes; a sensor arranged to determine a capacity use parameter for each lane; and a controller arranged to control the position of each diverter dependent on the determined capacity use parameters.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of de-stemming produce are provided. An apparatus can process an item of produce having a first portion and a second portion attached to the first portion. The apparatus can include at least one first conveyor unit that can convey the first portion of the item of produce in a first direction. The apparatus can include at least one second conveyor unit that can convey the second portion of the item of produce in a second direction that differs from the first linear direction by between zero and 90 degrees to generate a separation force between the first portion of the item of produce and the second portion of the item of produce that separates the first portion from the second portion.
Abstract:
Fruit and vegetable transport system for harvesting machine and harvesting machine that comprises a plurality of carrier units (2) for depositing a piece of fruit or vegetable in each one, said system (1) including means (8,9) for dragging said plurality of carrier units (2), said dragging means (8,9) determining a conveyor circuit that includes at least one section (6) for unloading said units (2) into a container, and at least one section (5) for loading the same units (2), once the fruit or vegetable has been deposited inside said container, wherein said dragging means comprise a chain (8) of links provided with means (9) for integrally joining said carrier units to said chain (8), each link (8a, 8b), of said chain (8) including the axis (13, 14) for a swivel joint with the adjacent links (8a, 8b), the axis (13, 14) of two adjacent link (8a, 8b) of said chain (8) determining a substantially right angle which allows the relative rotation of said links (8a, 8b) to guide said fruit or vegetable carrier units (2) in a predetermined place of the circuit. The machine (4) comprises a frame (3) provided with self-propulsion and travel means and the claimed transport system (1).
Abstract:
An elongate flume is provided for receiving items of produce. The flume comprises a first side and an opposite second side. A plurality of baffles are provided, each baffle having a first end at or adjacent the first side of the flume and a second end which is spaced apart from the first side of the flume and spaced apart from the second side of the flume.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of processing produce are provided. A sizing unit can convey the produce in a first direction, and can release the produce onto a receiving unit, which can convey the produce in a second direction. The receiving unit can include a trough to receive the produce subsequent to release from the sizing unit. A supplemental conveyor unit can guide the produce through at least one channel to convey the produce from the receiving unit to at least one conveyor unit, which can convey the produce into contact with at least one other conveyor unit to separate a first portion of the produce from a second portion of the produce.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the processing of articles (5) is disclosed. The apparatus includes guide means (1) having a body, a first end (2) for receiving articles, and a second end (3) for dispatching articles. The apparatus may be used to transfer articles (5) from a first conveyor means to a second conveyor means with a reduced likelihood of the articles colliding with other articles.
Abstract:
Apparatus for emptying containers filled with horticultural products and comprising a basin with an open top side and filled with water, operating means of the containers, and arranged at a level higher than the top liquid level in the basin, in order to move the containers over a defined area and to rotate them to offload its content, collecting means placed in the lower part of the basin and partially outside of it, and that collect the horticultural products from the bottom of the basin and lift them up to an emersion level, and that uses means apt to deviate the leaves from the central surface of the liquid towards a surface area adjacent to a definite wall of the basin, and to remove them from that area. Said means comprise a horizontal spillway opening, prolonged, arranged along said wall and to a height slightly lower than the liquid level, and pumps which spurt small water spouts almost horizontally, which form on the liquid surface a surface flow directed towards said prolonged opening, and filters of the drained water through said opening; said filters comprise a flexible belt conveyor, which is prolonged, extended for a closed path and in a continuous motion and which operates as a sieve, placed outside the basin and below said spillway opening that intercepts and filters the water and the leaves falling from said spillway opening.

Abstract:
A fluid-based radial distribution system includes an internal passageway and a plurality of openings radially spaced around the internal passageway. A plurality of gate members are associated with at least some of the plurality of openings, with the gate members are configured to move between an open position that allows product to move through the opening associated with that gate member and a closed position that restricts product from moving through the opening associated with that gate member.
