Abstract:
A braking- and damping device, in particular for movable pieces of furniture, having a fluid-cylinder (1) in which two pistons (2, 5) are arranged in linearly displaceable manner. A piston (2) is displaceable over a piston rod (3). Arranged between the two pistons (2, 5) is an elastically deformable sealing member, which, when damping occurs, is deformed by being squeezed between the two pistons (2, 5) and pressed against the cylinder wall (7).
Abstract:
A hinge and linkage system comprises a four-link system wherein first and second links are respectively connected to vehicle body and closure members, and an additional pair of links interconnect the first and second links. An expansible gas strut also interconnects the first and second links. In accordance with the invention, an expansible spring-biased plunger mechanism is mounted upon one of the additional links so as to operatively engage and be axially compressed by the second link and the closure member when the closure member is disposed at its latched position. When the closure member is unlatched, the spring-biased plunger mechanism initially partially elevates the closure member toward its open position whereupon the expansible gas strut can continue the elevational movement of the closure toward its open position.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the damping of impacts, preferably the impacts of furniture doors or drawers, consists of a cylinder with a piston whose piston rod sealingly guided out of a cylinder side forms a ram absorbing the impacts which divides the cylinder space filled with a liquid into two chambers and has perforations and/or, together with the cylinder wall, bounds a passage gap. A guide bushing guiding the piston rod is arranged in the region of the discharge end of the cylinder. A compression spring is clamped between the piston and the cylinder bottom. To ensure a smooth and quiet running with a compact construction, the guide bushing has a central shaft part of reduced diameter. A widened end part of the guide bushing is supported on a step or annular flange constricting the inner diameter of the cylinder and the guide bushing is supported at the other end on a cover closing the cylinder. The shaft part of the guide bushing is encompassed by a tube-section-like part made of elastic material.
Abstract:
An assembly for use with a vehicle sliding door 12 which includes a first wheel 24, which is movably disposed within a first track 40 located on the vehicle and having a ramped portion 44, and a second wheel 32 which is movably disposed within a second track 60. The assembly includes a brake pad 62, which is disposed within the second track 60, which frictionally engages the second wheel 32, and which cooperates with the ramped portion 44 to hold door 12 in an open position.
Abstract:
A device for releasably holding a door or window comprising two components. The first component (1) is attached to the door or window and the second component (7) is attached to the floor or wall. The two components are releasably engageable with each other. One of the components has a means (10) to cushion the opening force of a door or window, limited movement of an opened door or window, and cushion and direct the engagement of one component with the other. This device has the advantages of releasably holding a door or window and cushioning the door or window during engagement.
Abstract:
A spring loaded door hinge comprising a rod that moves with the door as the door pivots. Attached to the door frame is a flange. The door is attached to the rod by means of collars. The tails of the coil springs extend from the rod so that they may, depending upon their position, be in position to strike the door frame flange thereby preventing a large shock from being transferred to the door if it is swung open violently. Also the spring hinge allows the door to be easily opened initially with resistance to the door opening being controlled by the positioning of the tails of the coil springs. The springs are distributed vertically to prevent twisting of the door and frame. The tails of the spring coils are hooked so that the can engage the door frame flange if extreme force is placed upon the door when opening. The hooks set a limit as to how far the door may be opened and prevent the spring tail from binding between the flange and the spring coil.
Abstract:
A mechanical disk-type door closure wherein one end of the closure is connected to a door and the other end is pivotally connected to a door jam such that when the door pivots about its hinge. The closure includes a rod upon which a rack is formed to cause a pinion to rotate in one direction and which is in mesh with a gear so as to move the pinion out of contact with the rack. When the door closes, a spring moves the pinion into engagement with the rack and the pinion turns in a direction to rotate the gear which is subjected braking pressure so as to adjust the resistance to the closing motion of the door.
