    Abstract: Disclosed herein are wireless devices operable at intermediate wireless at ranges of thousands of meters, utilizing packets that include a preamble and a data payload. Devices may be such things as keypads, door latches, occupancy monitors, sprinkler controllers and other devices needing a communications link. A digital spread-spectrum frequency hopping rotation is used, wherein packet transmissions rotate through frequency sequences. Used is a spectrum-impact-smoothed channel sequence, each channel specifying a unique preamble frequency relative to the other sequences and channels. The set is traversed as a broadcasted stream is transmitted, thereby distributing the focused radio-frequency emission impact of packets having long preambles over time. Packet acknowledgments are deferred until a group of packets in a stream has been exchanged. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions are provided in the Detailed Description below, and the inventions are defined by the appended claims.

    Abstract: In a first aspect, the invention is an apparatus for a mobile communication network, which includes a mobile telecommunications device, with a graphical user interface and a memory. The apparatus also includes a mobile radio device, communicatively coupled to the mobile telecommunications device, thereby creating a pair of communicatively coupled mobile devices. The mobile radio device includes a plurality of lights functioning as a secondary user interface and, in conjunction with the graphical user interface provides a unified user interface. The mobile radio device also includes a memory, a GPS chip and an accelerometer, a magnetometer, and a gyroscope. The plurality of lights communicate an operational mode and status to a user. The operational mode is at least one of: a battery level indicator mode, a signal strength indicator mode, a compass indicator mode, a tracking mode, a path saving mode, a waypoint mode, and a disaster mode.

    Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for delivering a package which includes an enclosure with a door. The door includes an access code input device, which has a tilt plate for entering a code. The method and system also include a mechanism for opening and closing the door and a controller, which is in communication with the access code input device, is proximate the door and includes an access code reader for controlling the mechanism. The method also includes the step of providing a package with a delivery label attached to the package having an access code comprising dimensions for the package to be delivered. The access code further includes instructions to partially move the door only for an amount of time needed to partially open the door from a closed position or partially close the door from an open position according to the dimensions of the package to only allow passage of the package.

The radiant heater includes a heating layer, with a first elongated conductor configured to receive electricity and a second elongated conductor disposed parallel to the first conductor. The fairlead includes: a self-reversing screw; a motor for driving the self-reversing screw; and a guide comprising a guide nut and a first guide side and a second guide side.     Abstract: A detachable line guide is provided. A screw with a helical groove is provided. A guide is positioned a fixed distance perpendicular to the screw and can travel laterally freely. The guide includes a follower which is attached to the guide by a spring. The follower is biased into the groove. Rotation of the screw causes the follower to track the groove and move the guide laterally. The guide is configured for a line to pass therethrough. When the line exerts a lateral force above a predetermined threshold against the guide, the follower rides up and out of the groove as the spring is compressed.
