Abstract: To facilitate the commissioning of network identifiers (network IDs), an ordered list comprising network ID's associated with devices of an industrial automation process may be generated and stored. Based at least on the ordered list, a network ID may be identified. A prompt may be generated and displayed, the prompt comprising a notification to power-off one or more devices. Another prompt may be generated and displayed, the prompt comprising a notification to power-on a single device of the industrial automation process. In response to receiving a network-identifier request from the single device, a device identifier may be identified for the single device and stored in a list. A response comprising the network ID and a command to change the assignment mode of the device is autonomously generated and transmitted to the single device, which subsequently stores the network ID changes its mode.

Abstract: A device is provided for aligning a ribbon cable relative to an electrical connector to crimp the electrical connector onto the ribbon cable with a tool. The device includes a side portion and a central piece. The side portion includes an upper end and a cable track having a width sized to receive the ribbon cable. The central piece is coupled to the side portion and includes an upper surface. The upper surface of the central piece and the upper end of the side portion at least partially define a connector retaining segment sized to receive the electrical connector.

Abstract: Techniques to facilitate interactions with industrial devices in an industrial automation environment are disclosed herein. In at least one implementation, a realtime communication connection is established through a common gateway platform to an industrial controller. A realtime notification message is received comprising industrial data and display instructions encoded into a text string generated by the industrial controller, the display instructions comprising display properties for the industrial data that specify how to display the industrial data on a computing device. The text string is processed to generate and render a display of the industrial data for display on the computing device according to the display properties provided in the display instructions.

Abstract: An industrial automation system includes a collector component communicatively coupled to a first network and configured to receive one or more event logs via a first communication protocol. The industrial automation system also includes a first industrial automation component communicatively coupled to the first network and the collector component. The first industrial automation component is configured to communicate via the first communication protocol. Additionally, the industrial automation system includes a second industrial automation component configured to communicate via a second communication protocol, generate a first event log representative of a property associated with the second industrial automation component, and send the first event log to the first industrial automation component. The first industrial automation component is configured to convert the first event log into second event log interpretable by the collector component and send the second event log to the collector component via the first network.

Abstract: An independent cart system includes an inductive link for contactless power transfer between a track and each mover as the mover travels along the track. A system for contactless data transmission between movers and a controller in the independent cart system includes a transmitter and/or receiver mounted on each mover and a complementary receiver and/or transmitter mounted on a track. The transmitter receives data to be transmitted across the inductive link and modulates a voltage present on either the primary or secondary winding to which it is coupled. The modulated voltage present on one winding induces a corresponding modulation on the voltage present on the other winding. A receiver operatively connected to the other side of the inductive link detects the modulated voltage and decodes the data from the modulated voltage received across the inductive link.

Abstract: Thermal monitoring and analysis of conditions in a power electronic system include sensing of thermal parameters of interest, such as temperature and humidity in an enclosure housing power electronic components. The components are cooled by a liquid coolant flow from a chiller through chiller plates associated with the power electronic components. Air is circulated through the enclosure for heat rejection from the chiller plates. Based on the sensed parameters, factors such as relative humidity and dew point of the cooling air may be computed and evaluated to determine the potential for condensation. Alarms, notices, or recommendations may be output for regulation of the chiller to avoid condensation. The system may also provide for evaluation of installation errors, and degradation of performance over time.

Abstract: A system and method for shaping the trajectory of a motion command to reduce the effects of a load on performance of a motor dynamically modifies the motion profile in real time to limit the reference signals in the motion profile to feasible commands. A load observer determines an estimated disturbance acceleration. The estimated disturbance acceleration includes the dynamics of the controlled load and is used to modify a maximum and a minimum limit for the acceleration reference. The acceleration limits are, in turn, used to determine velocity limits. The motion profile and modified acceleration and velocity limits are provided to a state filter which determines a new motion profile for use by the motor drive to control operation of a motor and to control the load connected to the motor.

Abstract: A functional safety system performs safety analysis on three-dimensional point cloud data measured by a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor that monitors a hazardous industrial area that includes an automation system. To reduce the amount of point cloud data to be analyzed for hazardous conditions, the safety system executes a real-time emulation of the automation system using a digital twin and live controller data read from an industrial controller that monitors and controls the automation system. The safety system generates simulated, or shadow, point cloud data based on the emulation and subtracts this simulate point cloud data from the measured point cloud data received from the TOF sensor. This removes portions of the point cloud data corresponding to known or expected elements within the monitored area. Any remaining entities detected in the reduced point cloud data can be further analyzed for safety concerns.

Abstract: A power converter is configured to measure an output current and to determine a multi-phase voltage reference as a function of the output current. Within the same switching period the voltage reference is determined, a modulation routine determines a modulation index for each phase of the output voltage. In some instances, one or more phases must start modulation during the switching period before the new modulation index is determined. The modulation routine stores the value of the modulation index generated from the prior switching period and uses the stored value when a new value is not yet ready. An offset value for the phase voltage which used a modulation index from the prior switching period is determined in order to compensate the phase voltages of the other phases and to maintain a desired line-to-line voltage output from the power converter.

Abstract: A touchscreen for a display device may include a top layer, a bottom layer, and a middle layer between the top layer and the bottom layer. The touchscreen may also include a deposited material that extends around a perimeter of the touchscreen. A length of the deposited material has a length that extends from at least a first portion of the top layer to at least a second portion of the bottom layer. The deposited material may form a seal over the middle layer between the touchscreen and an environment of the display device.
