Abstract:
An endless belt for supporting a continuous web of filter media and moving it through liquid filtration apparatus where a pressure differential is applied across the belt and media. The belt may be fabricated at relatively low cost while retaining the required tensile strength. The belt is formed from a plurality of unique, unitary portions termed "hinge members" which are arranged in longitudinal columns and lateral rows, a plurality of links between each pair of laterally adjacent hinge members and connecting rods extending the full width of the belt through aligned openings in looped portions of the hinge members and openings in the links. The hinge members are preferably formed from a continuous strip of sheet metal by stamping and bending operations, with the links providing added tensile strength.
Abstract:
A carrier chain is provided which vibrates less when moving on the curved portion of the guide rail. The carrier chain can carry the article to be carried smoothly and in a more stable state, and can prevent the one-sided wear of the guide rail and the chain units. The carrier chain includes pawls which have an upwardly inclined bottom surface. The pawls are formed on both left and right sides of a base bed portion of chain units which make up the carrier chain. A distance which is relative to a support surface of a guide rail gradually increases from a proximal end side toward an extreme end. When the chain unit moves on a curved portion of the guide rail, and when the chain unit is inclined internally of the curved portion by the tension applied from the adjacent chain units before and behind, the bottom surface of the pawl, which is internal of the curved portion, comes in contact with the support surface in a substantially face-to-face contact state.
Abstract:
The chain conveyor comprises a roller chain and a supporting rail adapted to vertically support the roller chain. The roller chain is provided with a plurality of roller members which are connected to each other by means of strap members. In order to laterally guide the roller chain with respect to the supporting rail, discrete guide elements are provided. These guide elements comprise a guide cam which protrudes the strap members of the upper run of the roller chain downwards towards the supporting rail. Moreover, the guide elements comprise supporting pin members which laterally project from the guide elements. The guide elements are located between the roller members and fixed to the strap members. The guide cam engages a longitudinal groove provided at the top of the supporting rail, while the lateral supporting pin members vertically support the lower run of the roller chain with the help of auxiliary rail members provided on the supporting rail.
Abstract:
A conveyor chain is made up of carrier links and connector links connected together by non-cylindrical pins. The non-cylindrical pins abut corresponding non-arcuate surfaces of the connector links, which prevents rotation of the pins relative to the connector links. Also, the non-cylindrical pins fit into non-cylindrical holes defined by the carrier links, which limit rotation of the pins relative to the carrier links.
Abstract:
An arrangement in an overhead conveyor, which has a chain part, a guide part, and load carriers connected or convertible to the chain part. The chain part is formed of a plurality of rotationally symmetrical driver bodies arranged in a row, and flexible connecting means interconnecting the driver bodies. The guide part is formed of a substantially U-shaped section opening upwards, with a groove in which the chain part is adapted to travel and be guided by inwardly directed sliding surfaces formed of slide elements. Slide elements are also arranged on the tops of the U section legs, and the load carrier rests with an arm against one of said tops. A second arm of the load carrier extends outside the leg of the U section for connecting a load. The load carrier engages the driver body in such a manner as to on the one hand rotatably support the driver body or the connecting means in positions adjacent to the driver body about the rotational symmetry axis thereof extending in the longitudinal direction of the guide part and, on the other hand, lock the driver body against movement in the transverse direction of the guide part.
Abstract:
Method of displaying information material on a moving sidewalk or an escalator is disclosed. A handrail (2) is covered with a transparent plastic sheet(7), and a material (10) carrying information is inserted between the transparent plastic sheet and a top surface of the handrail so that the information can easily be replaced and displayed through the transparent plastic sheet. The transparent plastic sheet may be fastened to the handrail at a bottom end thereof by either a fastener (8,9) provided at the bottom end or by making a thickness larger at a bottom part (11) of the transparent plastic sheet, than that of other part of the transparent plastic sheet. The mater is carrying information may be glued to the handrail by adhesive having a character that no gluing marks are left after a removal of the material from the handrail.
Abstract:
A modular link conveyor including a plurality of modular link assemblies made up of links of an improved design assembled to create a closely interdigitating conveying surface is disclosed. The improved links eliminate undesirable gaps or openings in the conveying surface. Particularly, the improved links include a forwardly extending tongue, projecting from the leading apex of the link, which occupies an open space between the trailing apexes of the legs of the next forward link, thus minimizing the tendency of foreign objects from falling into the open space. The topside of the tongue is tapered downward so as to lift free any objects present in the open spaces primarily while the conveyor is maneuvering through a turn. A forwardly projecting finger, positioned between adjoining links, is also provided for filling a void between the adjoining links. The finger aids in dislodging any foreign objects present in an opening between the legs of the next forward adjoining link, also primarily during turning. Additionally, the legs of the improved links include a trailing apex having an open groove for providing access for inspection and cleaning to the connecting rod that extends through mating slots/holes to connect the link assemblies. The legs adjacent both the leading and trailing apexes include a two-way angled undercut to provide improved mating, and consequently a tighter turning radius for the conveyor. Side fins spanning the angle on the legs adjacent the trailing apex are also provided for improved mating of the links and further increasing turning ability.
Abstract:
A roll, along with methods of fabricating and using such roll, for driving a woven-wire conveyor belt, provide substantially-uniform drive across belt width, avoid disruption of belt drive, provide unidirection tracking of such belt, and avoid disruption of conveyed product during treatment of conveyed product at temperatures other than ambient. During conveyance of product for heating or cooling treatment, woven-wire conveyor belts and rolls driving such belts are often at differing temperatures, especially during start-up and shutdown of operations. Such temperature differentials can cause dimensional changes in a belt which change the relative location of belt recesses with respect to the roll surface. Selective shaping and dimensioning of roll protrusions from the widthwise center of a roll toward each lateral end of the roll eliminates mismatching of belt recesses due to changes in belt width during product processing at temperatures other than ambient.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a conveyor intended for travel along an intended direction on a given path, having laterally spaced and opposed sides, and comprising a chain pin, a first link module including a first plurality of laterally spaced eyes which respectively have therein aligned first bores receiving the chain pin, and which define a series of spaces, and a second link module including a second plurality of laterally spaced eyes which respectively have therein aligned second bores receiving the chain pin to prevent disconnection of the first and second modules, and which are received in the spaces between the first plurality of eyes so as to engage the first plurality of eyes in such manner as to directly transmit tension in the direction of conveyor movement between the first and second link modules at laterally spaced multiple places between the conveyor sides.
