    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for performing fast beam switching in a high-frequency wireless communication environment. Higher frequencies reduce transmission wavelength, which allows for an increased number of antennas and an increased number of beams. Therefore, beams become narrower and are more prone to failure. The UE must be capable of quickly identifying the beam failure and switching to a new beam. Therefore, the UE is capable of receiving multiple beams from the base station and configures both for testing and immediate use. In some cases, the UE can receive multiple beams for testing and assumes a default beam while feeding back to the base station a preferred beam. To support the larger number of available beams, MAC-CE and DCI are modified to identify this increased number of states. Alternatively, two MAC-CEs are sent, each containing a different group of states, and the DCI identifies both the group and the selected state.

    Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing downlink and uplink scheduling in communication above 52.6 GHz. For example, some aspects of this disclosure relate to a base station. The base station includes a transceiver configured to communicate over a wireless network with a user equipment (UE) and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor determines that the communication between the base station and the UE is in a frequency range above 52.6 GHz. In response to the determination, the processor disables a frequency main resource assignment (FDRA), modifies a Resource Block Group (RBG) size, or modifies a Resource Indication Value (RIV) determination. The processor generates a Downlink Channel Indicator (DCI) based at least on one or more of the disabled FDRA, the modified RBG size, or the modified RIV determination. The processor transmits, using the transceiver, the DCI to the UE.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for calculating and compensating for Doppler shift in a high-speed environment. When in a high-speed environment, Doppler shifts on a transmitted radio frequency signal can become extremely large, which may make it difficult or even impossible for a receiving device to accurately decipher the signal. Therefore, embodiments of the present disclosure describe how tracking reference signals can be transmitted from multiple transmission/reception points, and processed by the UE. For example, the TRS transmitted from the TRP can be enhanced to allow for TRS information from two different TRPs. Additionally, or alternatively, a flag can be set within TRS information that identifies it as having originated from either a first TRP or a second TRP. Additionally, the UE can calculate Doppler shift information and report that information back to the base station in a report message, such as an SRS message. In this manner, the base station can precompensate for the Doppler shift.
