Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for reporting a capability of a User Equipment (UE) supporting advanced functions such as Carrier Aggregation (CA) are provided. The method includes checking, when a control message requesting a capability report is received, a Radio Access Technology (RAT) type and transmitting, when the RAT type is set to Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (EUTRA), at least one band combination information on at least one band combination supported by the terminal. The UE capability report method is capable of reporting the UE capability related to advanced functions, such as CA and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), to a network efficiently with the least amount of information, thereby resulting in an improvement of radio resource efficiency.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method for cell reselection in a wireless communication system in which various radio access technologies (RATs) coexist with each other. In a wireless communication system in which heterogeneous networks coexist with each other, the method of cell reselection between heterogeneous networks for a user equipment may include: receiving a system information block (SIB) containing cell reselection parameters from a corresponding base station; checking whether cell reselection parameters based on a cell selection quality value (Squal) are configured in the received SIB; and performing, when cell reselection parameter based on Squal are not configured, cell reselection based on a cell selection receive level value (Srxlev). The present disclosure may prevent the user equipment from performing unnecessary cell reselection.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for matching the radio channel measurement timing of Minimization of Drive Test (MDT) cycle with timings of the Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle are provided. The radio channel measurement method of a terminal according to the present invention includes configuring a DRX cycle, receiving a Minimization of Drive Test (MDT) cycle, comparing the DRX cycle and the MDT cycle, measuring, when the MDT cycle is an integer multiple of the DRX cycle, the radio channel at DRX timings matching with MDT timings, and storing a result of the measurement.
Abstract:
A power headroom calculation method and apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) are provided for a primary cell Power Headroom (PH) calculation in a Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) mobile communication system. The method includes determining whether an activated serving cell includes uplink data and/or uplink control signal to be transmitted, and determining PH of the activated serving cell according to whether the activated serving cell has the uplink data and/or uplink control signal.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for efficiently transmitting or reporting a Power Headroom Report (PHR) of a User Equipment (UE) are provided. The method of transmitting the PHR of the UE in a mobile communication system includes configuring an extended PHR including an indicator corresponding to a variation factor of a maximum transmission power of the UE, and transmitting the extended PHR from the UE to a Base Station (BS). The BS may be notified of a maximum transmission power of the UE and a variation factor corresponding to the maximum transmission power in order to enable efficient scheduling.
Abstract:
A method for activating/deactivating secondary carriers of a User Equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system supporting carrier aggregation is provided. The method comprises, receiving a control message including an activation/deactivation Control Element (CE) in a first sub-frame from a Base station, identifying an activation command or a deactivation command of at least one secondary carrier based on the control message, determining whether a current sub-frame is a second sub-frame or not, performing at least one first operation for the at least one secondary carrier in a second sub-frame, and performing, when the activation/deactivation CE indicates deactivation of the at least one secondary carrier, at least one second operation for the at least one secondary carrier no later than the second sub-frame.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for optimizing the power consumption of a terminal in a mobile communication system. The method for optimizing power consumption of a terminal in a mobile communication system comprises: a determination step of determining whether there is a need for changing a configuration for a discontinuous reception operation of the terminal; and a transmission step of transmitting, to a base station, a request message for a change in the discontinuous reception operation, if it is determined that the change is needed.

Abstract:
A Power Headroom Report (PHR) method and apparatus in a communication system are provided. The method includes acquiring information for a path loss reference, wherein the information for the path loss reference indicates whether the UE applies as the path loss reference either a downlink of a primary cell or a downlink of a secondary cell (SCell), triggering a power headroom report (PHR) if a path loss is changed more than a threshold for at least one activated cell which is used as the path loss reference, and obtaining power headroom information for each activated cell, if extended PHR is used and an uplink resource is allocated for new transmission.
