Abstract:
A notched wire 4 that is disposed in layers in a filtration apparatus. First projection stripes 4d are formed on the top surface 4b of a base 4a at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal direction of the base 4a so as to extend in the width direction of the base 4a. Second projection stripes 4e are formed approximately at the centers of the first projection stripe 4d so as to extend between the first projection stripes 4d•4d. The second projection stripes 4e are projection stripes having an approximately semicircular cross section, for example. The second projection stripes 4e is smaller in height than the first projection stripes 4d, and the width of the second projection stripes 4e is shorter than the length of the first projection stripes 4d.
Abstract:
A fluid filter includes a bypass valve and a pleated media surrounded by a thermoplastic frame. A fluid filter, includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet, a media disposed within the housing, a bypass valve disposed within the housing adjacent the media wherein the bypass valve includes a valve frame, a valve lid that couples to the valve frame, a valve pan that couples to the frame, and a seal door disposed between the valve lid and the valve frame. A method of filtering fluid, includes providing a bypass valve wherein the bypass valve includes a bypass valve seal door, raising the bypass valve seal door along a guide disposed on the bypass valve, passing fluid through the raised bypass valve seal door, lowering the bypass valve seal door along the guide disposed on the bypass valve and ceasing passing fluid through the bypass valve.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for increasing the duration of uninterrupted filtering flow by using crossflow filtration and ultrasonic energy with in difficult to filter process liquids (e.g. of the kind having (1) a carrier liquid, (2) coalescing solids particles which tend to adhere and bridge filter element gaps sized substantially larger than such particles, and (3) larger impurity elements to be filtered out of such process liquid and sized larger than such filter element gaps).
Abstract:
A generally cylindrical filter element incorporating nonsymmetrical or asymmetrical V-pleated media. The V-pleated media provides increased filter media per given filter volume, extended filter life, and a smaller filter for equivalent filter life. A smaller filter is generally beneficial for some applications such as aircraft, due to its lower weight. Various features of the filter include asymmetric variable pleat heights applied to a cylindrical or obround filter; defined pleat spacing applied to a variable pleat height element; optimal pleat density; and optimal shape of inlet and outlet.
Abstract:
A pleated filter cartridge for filtering liquids including an annular filter element having a filter material which is a thin non-perforated non-woven material of flash-spun plexifilamentary high-density polyethylene fibrils, the filter material having a pressure drop of less than 4 psid at a flow rate of 10 gal/hr and a filtration efficiency of at least 98% of 1–2 micron particulates at a pressure differential of 30 psid. The filter material preferably has a mean flow pore size greater than 4 microns while its normal pore-size filtration rating is 1 micron, and preferably has a thickness of less than about 0.15 mm, most preferably less than or equal to about 0.13 mm. The filter element preferably has two layers, including a mesh layer, preferably of a low-density polyethylene. The mesh most preferably has a softening temperature range below the lower end of the softening temperature range of the high-density polyethylene filter material, and is tack-point interconnected to the filter material without having compromised the filter material.
Abstract:
A filter for a fluid system includes a housing having an interior cavity. A filter media is disposed in the housing and defines a central opening. A center tube assembly is arranged within the central opening and includes discs which are stackable upon one another. Each disc includes a central portion having base received by an inner wall of the central portion of the adjacent disc. An outer portion extends radially outwardly from the central portion and is positioned adjacent to the filter media. The central portion, base, and outer portion may include openings to permit the flow of fluid through the center tube assembly. The center tube assembly provides the desired structural integrity while permitting fluid to flow through the center tube. The present invention center tube assembly may be produced by a plastic molding process.
Abstract:
A fluid filter includes a cylindrical pleated filter media disposed around a central perforated support core or self-supporting. An outer support sleeve comprising a extruded nylon, diamond-shaped mesh is stretched across the pleated media, and elastically conforms to the pleat peaks to structurally retain the pleats of the pleat peaks in fixed relation to one another. A bead of adhesive is then applied over the sleeve to fix the sleeve to the pleat peaks. End caps are disposed at opposite ends of the fluid filter.
Abstract:
A self supporting pleated fluid filter medium having different fibers to provide pleats sufficiently self supporting to maintain pleated form during fluid filter treatment, the invention further including low melt fiber and an optional support frame and a method of making such pleated filter.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge has a pleated filter media rolled into a cylinder, a tubular core, moulded from plastic with alternate grooves and ridges provided at the outer surface and a collar with uniformly spaced teeth which envelopes the filter media to rigidly space the pleats. The collar is retained by friction and it may be displaced towards the end caps of the cartridge. The core may be withdrawn from the filter media of a waste cartridge and utilized in a new cartridge. The upper end cap has a handle with a hinge provided by a reduced section of the plastic material.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge for use in a fluid filtering system, constructed to induce rotational flow in the unfiltered fluid, includes a pleated filter sleeve in which the individual sleeves are slanted relative to the sleeve circumference in a direction opposite to the direction of the rotational flow fluid. The slanted pleats can be constructed by creasing a sheet of filter media at alternatingly shorter and longer widths to form pleats having relatively shorter front legs and relatively longer back legs. The shorter front legs bias the pleats in the counter-rotational direction.
