Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method for determining, in a wireless cellular telecommunication network, if a base station can not handle a half-duplex terminal, the base station transferring signals in a cell of the base station, the half-duplex terminal, when being handled by the base station, not transferring and not receiving signals during a period of time, called idle period of the cell of the base station. The base station: transfers signals in the cell of the base station, receives a signal transferred by the half-duplex terminal in response to a signal transferred by the base station, determines from the received signal, a characteristic of the half-duplex terminal in the cell, determines that the base station can not handle the half-duplex terminal if the characteristic of the half-duplex terminal in the cell is not compatible with the idle period.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data having a data stream in a wireless broadcast system are provided. A frame is generated. The frame includes preamble section and a data section. The data section carries the data stream. The preamble section carries signalling information. The frame is transmitted to a receiver. In generating the frame, the data section of the frame is segmented into a plurality of frequency zones, and the data stream is mapped to a frequency zone of the plurality of frequency zones. The signalling information includes segmentation information of the frequency zones.

Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method for estimating, in a communication system, a level of interference plus noise affecting received signals representative of a set of received pilot symbols, characterized in that the method comprises the steps of: dividing the set of received pilot symbols by a corresponding set of pilot symbols, filtering the divided set of received pilot symbols by a filter the coefficients of which are determined from an eigenvector associated with one of the lowest eigenvalues of a channel fading correlation matrix representative of the correlation between the channel coefficients affecting the set of pilot symbols, averaging up the square absolute values of the symbols obtained at the output of the filter in order to estimate the level of interference plus noise affecting the received signals.
