Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, system and computer program product for activation and/or deactivation of bearers for a group of devices are disclosed. The method comprises receiving an attach request for a device belonging to a group of devices, obtaining an identity of the group of devices, allocating a first bearer identity for the group of devices, and sending the identity of the group and the first bearer identity to a first network element, wherein the first network element is involved in transmission of user data of the group of devices.
Abstract:
Communication systems, such as an evolved packet system, may benefit from methods for addressing infrequent transmissions. In particular, certain communication systems in which machine type communication devices are deployed may benefit from a machine type communication feature for infrequent transmission. A method for providing such a feature can include negotiating at least one characteristic of a bearer. The method can also include deactivating the bearer based on the at least one characteristic.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method, an apparatus and computer program product relating to provisioning external identifiers. The present invention includes receiving a request including an interworking function address, a subscriber identifier, a device identifier and at least one application identifier, generating, by the interworking function or by a home subscriber server, at least one external identifier based on the received subscriber identifier, device identifier and at least one application identifier.
Abstract:
An apparatus of a communication network performs processing (10) for a group message to be sent to a plurality of devices. The group message includes an application layer content and a group identification identifying the plurality of devices. The apparatus performs communication (20) for sending the group message to the plurality of devices by using a protocol for enabling sending the group message in broadcast data to the plurality of devices. The protocol may enable sending the group message in multimedia broadcast/multicast service data or cell broadcast service data to the plurality of devices.
Abstract:
Communications systems, such as the evolved packet system, may benefit from configurations and methods for a mobile switching center. For example, a mobile switching center may be configured to act as a short message service gateway. A method can include communicating, by a mobility management entity, regarding a user equipment with a home subscriber server of the user equipment. The method can also include determining whether a mobility management entity communicates with a short message service gateway mobile switching center regarding the user equipment based on communication with the home subscriber server.
Abstract:
For many machine to machine applications a poll model can be used for communications between machine type communication devices and the machine type communication server. In such and other communication systems device triggering solutions can permit efficient communication. According to certain embodiments, a method can include preparing an attach request to be sent to a network element, wherein the attach request includes an indication of a device trigger capability of a user equipment. The method can also include activating the user equipment in response to a received device trigger.
Abstract:
Improved systems and techniques for controlling access to network resources. A base station broadcasts extended access barring (EAB) and access class barring (ACB) information. Upon a determination by a user equipment that the user equipment requires service from the base station, the user equipment determines its EAB category and call type. The user equipment receives the EAB and ACB information broadcast by the base station and determines if it is subject to EAB based on its EAB category. If the user equipment is not subject to EAB, the user equipment determines if its call type is subject to ACB and, if the call type is subject to ACB, applies access class barring based on its call type.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for handover data integrity of a mobile station in a wireless data network with a plurality of wireless network service areas. The method and apparatus includes initiating handover by a mobile station, identifying a target access service network (ASN) for handover from a serving ASN. When the target ASN is identified, receive a data integrity capability from the target ASN, and determine whether a direct data delivery mode is available as a data integrity mode. When a direct data delivery mode is available, direct data delivery is performed with the data associated with the service flow from the serving ASN to the target ASN.
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting a paging indicator indicating to user equipment assigned to one or more groups that the user equipment are to attempt to receive paging messages including paging information targeted to at least one of the one or more groups; and transmitting in a channel the paging information in the paging messages. Another method includes receiving a paging indicator indicating a user equipment is to attempt to receive paging messages including paging information targeted to at least one of one or more groups; and receiving from a channel the paging information in the paging messages. A method includes sending a request message to user equipment assigned to one or more groups, the request message comprising an indication to cause the user equipment to read device trigger information in a system broadcast message; and sending the device trigger information in the system broadcast message.
