    摘要: A method for communication link connection in a data transmission between devices using visible light communication (VLC) that can provide a visible indication prior to establishing a communication link between the devices. The method includes activating a VLC mode by a first VLC apparatus in order to transmit the data; scanning other apparatuses to establish a communication link with a second VLC apparatus; requesting a communication link to the second VLC apparatus in order to transmit the data; and receiving a response, indicating whether data can be received from the second VLC apparatus, and establishing communication link connection. A user can easily recognize the visual indication before the establishment of the communication link, providing an opportunity for the user to arrange the apparatus for optimal communication distance/angle from another device, and for a status of the communication.

    摘要: An optical fiber amplifier is disclosed for amplifying an input optical signal in the long wavelength band. The amplifier include first and second pumping light sources, a photo detector for detecting the intensity of the input optical signal, an erbium-doped optical fiber, and a controller. The optical fiber is brought to a first-pumped state by the first pumping light output from the first pumping light source. This generates an amplified spontaneous emission in the short wavelength band. The optical fiber is brought to a second-pumped state by the amplified spontaneous emission and outputs an induced emission light in the long wavelength band. The second pumping light source outputs a second pumping light in the same wavelength band as the amplified spontaneous emission, while controlling the intensity of the second pumping light by an output control signal, thereby controlling the intensity of the second-pumped state of the optical fiber. The controller calculates the amount of optical intensity loss and the number of channels of the input optical signal, based on the detected optical intensity, and transmits the output control signal to the second pumping light source for compensating the loss of the input optical signal.

    摘要: A system and method for continuing a communication link while maintaining visibility in visible light communication. A frame is transmitted by a sender for establishing a communication link before data transmission to a receiver by a sender. A receiver sends a response frame that reports on establishment of the communication link prior to data transmission by the sender. A data frame containing information is transmitted by the sender to the receiver. An acknowledgment frame is transmitted to the sender in response to the data frame. A disconnect frame is transmitted by the sender which is acknowledged by the receiver. A visible sequence is transmitted during a time period when the sender and the receiver do not transmit respective frames for communication to maintain visibility between two devices that may be communicating otherwise by, for example, infrared communication.
