摘要: Systems, devices and methods are disclosed for treating fractures. The systems, devices and methods may include one or both of an implant, such as an intramedullary nail, and a fastening assembly, such as a lag screw and compression screw assembly. The implant in some embodiments has a proximal section with a transverse aperture and a cross-section that may be shaped to more accurately conform to the anatomical shape of cortical bone and to provide additional strength and robustness in its lateral portions, preferably without requiring significant additional material. The fastening assembly may be received to slide, in a controlled way, in the transverse aperture of the implant. In some embodiments, the engaging member and the compression device are configured so that the compression device interacts with a portion of the implant and a portion of the engaging member to enable controlled movement between the first and second bone fragments. This configuration is useful for, among other things, compressing a fracture.

摘要: A digital multimeter comprises a rotary switch and a rotary switch memory. The rotary switch can be moved between a plurality of positions to change the function performed by the digital multimeter. When the rotary switch is in a particular position, a user can change the function currently associated with that position from a default function to a non-default function. Thereafter, when the user moves the rotary switch away from the particular and then subsequently moves the position back to the particular position, the multimeter resumes the non-default function without requiring further user-input.

The systems, devices and methods may include one or both of a stabilizing structure, such as an implant, bone plate, or other device and a fastening assembly, such as a lag screw and compression screw assembly. The stabilizing structure in some embodiments has a proximal section with a transverse aperture and a cross-section that may be shaped to more accurately conform to the anatomical shape of cortical bone and to provide additional strength and robustness in its lateral portions, preferably without requiring significant additional material. The fastening assembly may be received to slide, in a controlled way, in the transverse aperture of the stabilizing structure. In some embodiments, the engaging member and the compression member are configured so that the compression member interacts at least indirectly with the stabilizing structure and a portion of the engaging member to enable controlled movement between the first and second bone fragments. This configuration is useful for, among other things, compressing a fracture.

摘要: The present invention provides a device for treating fractures of a bone and methods for treating a facture, particularly fractures of the femur, that uses an intramedullary nail or a bone plate and a sliding compression fixation element. Certain features of various fixation elements described herein lessen the rotational forces applied during implantation and/or lessen the amount of bone that needs to be removed during placement of the sliding compression screw.

摘要: A checkpoint of a parallel program is taken in order to provide a consistent state of the program in the event the program is to be restarted. Each process of the parallel program is responsible for taking its own checkpoint, however, the timing of when the checkpoint is to be taken by each process is the responsibility of a coordinating process. During the checkpointing, various data is written to a checkpoint file. This data includes, for instance, in-transit message data, a data section, file offsets, signal state, executable information, stack contents and register contents. The checkpoint file can be stored either in local or global storage. When it is stored in global storage, migration of the program is facilitated. When a parallel program is to be restarted, each process of the program initiates its own restart. The restart logic restores the process to the state at which the checkpoint was taken.
