Abstract:
A self-ballasted electrodeless discharge lamp includes a discharge vessel having a cavity, an induction coil that is inserted into the cavity, a ballast for supplying power to the induction coil, a case for covering the ballast, and a lamp base provided in the case. The discharge vessel is secured to the case via a holder. A part of the discharge vessel and a first portion of the holder are engaged with each other to constitute a combination structure. A second portion of the holder and a part of the case are engaged with each other to constitute a combination structure.
Abstract:
An electrodeless discharge lamp includes a translucent bulb enclosing a luminous material; a coil for generating an alternating magnetic field that causes discharge in the luminous material; a power source for supplying an alternating current to the coil, the coil including a core and a winding provided near the bulb; and further includes startability improving means for improving startability of the lamp by generating a portion in which the alternating magnetic field generated by the coil is intensified in the bulb.
Abstract:
A sensor chip is a sensor device for measuring a property of a substance by adsorbing the substance on a surface of the sensor chip. The sensor chip includes a diaphragm having a first surface, a second surface, and at least one through hole penetrating from the first surface to the second surface. At least a part of the first surface, the second surface, and an inner wall surface of the through hole is covered with a noncrystalline solid layer including SiOX as a main component, in which substance X is an element having higher electronegativity than that of silicon.

Abstract:
An electrodeless discharge lamp operating device including a light-transmitting discharge bulb 120, an induction coil including a core 103 and a coil 104, and a ballast circuit 140 for supplying a high-frequency power to the induction coil. The operating frequency of the ballast circuit 140 is in the range of 80 kHz to 500 kHz, and where the operating frequency of the ballast circuit 140 is f (kHz) and the power input to the discharge bulb 120 is P (W), the rare gas pressure p (Pa) in the discharge bulb 120 satisfies the relationship of the following expression: p ≥ A P - B f 2 - C [ Expression 1 ] (where A, B and C are constants having the following values: A=4.0×104, B=3.5×104 and C=6.2), and the power input P to the discharge bulb 120 is 7 W at minimum and 22 W at maximum.
Abstract:
An electrodeless discharge lamp apparatus includes an electrodeless discharge lamp, a microwave resonator, and a microwave coupler. The microwave resonator includes a conductive reflecting mirror having an opening, a conductive shield, and two opposing external electrodes provided substantially on a central axis of the reflecting mirror. The electrodeless discharge lamp is disposed between the opposing external electrodes. The focal point of the reflecting mirror is positioned between the opposing external electrodes. When microwave energy is supplied to the microwave resonator via the microwave coupler, a microwave resonant electric field occurs between the opposing external electrodes, whereby discharge of the electrodeless discharge lamp occurs.
