摘要: In a bus system having a plurality of instruments linked to each other, the invention proposes a method which avoids useless data transmission or useless occupation of a data transmission line. A data transmission line is established for starting receipt/transmission of data after available instruments for the transmission/receipt of the date are identified. During the transmission of the data, the enable and disable state of transmission/receipt of the data is monitored and if desired, the data transmission is broken.

摘要: When transmitting encoded video data and audio data, a transmitter 201 also transmits a decoding method 107 generated by decoding-method generation means 203. In the case of a receiver 202, decoding control means 111 controls decoding means 208 in accordance with a received decoding method 113 and thereby, decodes video data and audio data 115. Thus, it is unnecessary for the receiver 202 to previously prepare all of a plurality of decoding methods and the transmitter 201 does not need to encode video data or audio data in accordance with the decoding method owned by the receiver 202.

摘要: A recording apparatus for recording digital signals to plural tracks formed sequentially on a tape using plural heads includes a first selector for selecting the first through n track sets, continuous tracks within the plural tracks formed on the tape. A disposer disposes the first through k separated high speed reproduction data areas to the same positions in each of the m tracks comprising the first through n track sets. A first recording unit records the same high speed reproduction data to the same track position in at least the tracks having the same azimuth within the m*k high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set. A second selector selects the n+1 through n+N, each track set comprising M tracks selected from among the tracks to which the high speed reproduction data areas are not disposed. A second disposer disposes a continuous very-high speed reproduction data area to the same position in each of the M tracks forming the n+1 through n+N track sets. A second recorder record the same very-high speed reproduction data to the M very-high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set within the M*N very-high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the n+1 to n+N track sets.

摘要: An apparatus records and reproduces high efficiency coded video signal to and from a recording medium and includes an important data generating circuit for generating at least an important data from an input video signal, a data arranging circuit for arranging the important data so as to be recorded at predetermined positions, and a recording and reproduction control circuit for controlling recording and reproducing operations. The input video signal is separated into information common to each large block and information native to small blocks of the each large block. A coding mode of each of the small blocks thus separated is judged. The input video signal is divided into a plurality of packets, data for generating a common information from the input video signal is decoded, the common information thus generated is stored at a predetermined position of a packet, and each packet is sequentially recorded on a recording medium. Data for generating a common information from a predetermined position of each packet is read out when reproducing a recorded signal, the common information is generated from read-out data, and plural small blocks are collected using the common information thereby to compose a large block, so that high speed reproduction can be obtained when an intra-/inter-picture coded signal is recorded.

摘要: An apparatus serving as a digital videocassette recorder (VCR) for recording analog video and audio signals as digital signals. The apparatus serves also as a digital data storage drive. The digital VCR and the storage drive share common circuitry and a common magnetic recording medium. This reduces the cost and enhances the efficiency at which tracks are used. The apparatus has a large storage capacity. The apparatus divides input digital data into two parts and performs error correction encoding for each of these two data parts to form sync blocks. These sync blocks are recorded in an audio signal recording area and a video signal recording area, respectively, on the recording medium. Error correction codes used during reading of digital data are the same as those used during recording of video and audio signals. The same track structure and the same sync block structure are used for these two modes of operation.

摘要: A data transmitting and receiving method for improving transmission and reception efficiency can be obtained by improving the security through update of a control key and reduction of the frequency of the authentication and key exchange process. An STB 1 transmits encrypted digital data Kw (D) obtained by encrypting digital data D using a work key Kw, and an encrypted work key Kc (Kw) obtained by encrypting the Kw using a control key Kc. The Kc is periodically or non-periodically updated, and an identifier L identifying the Kc is assigned to each Kc. A VTR device 2 decrypts the received Kc (Kw) using the Kc obtained by performing the authentication and key exchange process with the STB 1, decrypts the Kw (D) received using the Kw to obtain the D. It is determined whether or not the Kc has been updated while the reception process is suspended by referring to the transmitted L when the reception process is suspended and then resumed. If it is determined that the Kc has been updated, then the authentication and key exchange process is performed again to obtain the updated Kc.
