摘要: Disclosed is a multi-part form comprising a form set with a first form part having prerecorded information thereon and overlying a second form part. Variable information recorded on the first form part is transferred to the second form part, preferably by carbonless transfer using infrared adsorptive dyes, such that the variable information appearing on the second form part is readable by current standard facsimile machines. The second form part is preferably blank, although a minimal quantity of prerecorded information may be provided on the second form part. The second form part is then used as the transmission copy for a facsimile machine whereby reduced time and costs of transmission is effected. The received copy of the facsimile transmission may be provided with an overlay whereby a reproduction of the first form part, including both variable and prerecorded information, may be provided.

摘要: The invention provides a colloidal refractory system for an electric arc furnace or another pyrometallurgical converter having a hearth, a shell, and a roof. The colloidal silica refractory includes alumina having a range of about 55 percent through about 90 percent by weight, silicon carbide having a range of about 2.5 percent through about 30 percent by weight, silica having a range of about 2 percent through about 20 percent by weight, and carbon having a range of about 0.1 percent through about 4 percent by weight. An aqueous colloidal silica binder provides the silica. The colloidal refractory system has high-temperature strength and resists the attack from slag and off-gases.

摘要: A system for coding and transmitting traffic alert and collision avoidance data between vehicles (A, B and C) traveling within a given airspace (12). The airspace is divided into a grid of volume elements (14a, 14b . . . 14i), each of which is assigned a unique pseudonoise (PN) code. A vehicle (A) traveling through the airspace determines its position using signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The vehicle's position places it within one of the volume elements in the airspace. A Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) transmitter (38) on the vehicle creates a navigation message that describes the position of the vehicle. A collision avoidance signal is then generated by modulating a carrier signal with the PN code representing the volume element containing the transmitting vehicle and with the navigation message. The collision avoidance signal is transmitted on a common communications channel using time-multiplexing based on a pseudorandom sequence. Other vehicles operating within the same airspace use a TCAS receiver to receive the collision avoidance signals broadcast from each vehicle. Each receiving vehicle in the airspace only tracks collision avoidance signals produced by vehicles located in its own and surrounding volume elements to determine if an impending collision is likely. Specifically, only the navigation messages from vehicles in the same or surrounding volume elements are decoded to determine the position of the other vehicles. Based on calculated vehicle paths, a warning of an impending collision or instructions on how to avoid a collision are provided to the operator of the receiving vehicle.

摘要: A business forms assembly and method of forming is provided wherein a continuous web defines a plurality of successive form sets and wherein the web is divided longitudinally by a slit indicator line to define adjacent form parts for each set. Carbonless transfer technology is employed, such that a back side or undersurface of one form part (the upper part) is coated with carbonless microcapsules, while a front side or upper surface of the adjacent form part (the lower part) is coated with a co-reactant resin coating. The arrangement permits variable information to be printed on the adjacent form parts as the web passes through a non-impact printer. Thereafter, the web is longitudinally slit, separating the adjacent form parts which are thereafter interstacked so that the coating on the undersurface of the upper form part lies in full surface engagement with the coating on the upper surface of the lower form part. The respective form parts may then be adhesively secured. Thereafter, information imaged onto the upper form part is simultaneously imaged onto the lower form part.

摘要: A business form suitable for use as a packing list or invoice attached to the package, and having the portion which serves as a shipping label to which variable address information may be applied, is produced in a simple and effective manner. Label stock and a bond paper portion are glued together at an overlapping section. Tractor holes may be provided in the free edges of the label and bond portions to facilitate driving through a printer. An adhesive strip on a first face of the label stock and another adhesive strip on a second, opposite face of the bond portion, holds the sections of the form together when it is Z-folded (accordion folded). The release liner on the label stock is removed to apply the form onto a package. The first face of the form may be printed utilizing a non-impact printer, with variable information. The second face of the form may be printed with non-variable information at a manufacturing location.

摘要: Method and apparatus are provided for forming an envelope wherein front and rear panels of an envelope are incorporated in continuous or discrete webs or sheets. Heat activatable adhesive is applied to three peripheral edge portions of one of the envelope panels in facing engagement with the other of the panels. The webs or sheets are fixed together and fed into a printing machine such as a table or desk top laser printer wherein the heat fusing rolls of the printer are utilized to activate the heat activatable adhesive to thereby secure the envelope panels together to form an envelope pocket. One of the envelope panels incorporates a sealing flap portion which may be provided with a rewettable adhesive pattern, while the facing portion of the opposed sheet may be provided with an antistick composition to prevent premature sticking between the sheets in the area of the sealing flap.
