    摘要: A sound attenuation mechanism made up of multiple substrate layers, including corrugated layers. The use of corrugation provides an inexpensive and manner of forming a plurality of highly effective acoustic attenuation channels throughout the mechanism. The multi-layered mechanism may be provided in a variety of modular forms and sizes which may be combined to form a low-cost, highly effective attenuation housing. For example, such a housing may be utilized to contain otherwise noisy large scale oilfield equipment such as coiled tubing engines. Additionally, where drainage from the housing is sought, a spiraled attenuation channel may be employed such that the effectiveness of the attenuation provided by the housing is not sacrificed.

    摘要: Output value signals from radiometer or receiver channels are normalized to achieve a flat field response when creating a millimeter wave image. A normalizing factor is applied to the output value signals from each channel, and the normalizing factor accommodates drift in offset of the output value signals on a scan-by-scan basis. The normalizing factor is based on each channel observing a different mean scan brightness temperature from a portion of the scene than the mean brightness temperature of the entire scene. The normalizing factor is obtained by solving a system of simultaneous equations in which normalizing factors from all of the channels are related to one another, preferably by a consistency condition where the mean scan temperature of each channel is equal to an average of the intensities of those image pixels to which the output value signals from that channel contributes.

    摘要: Fair scheduling in broadcast environments is disclosed. In one embodiment, a computerized system includes a link through which packets are transmitted, and a plurality of nodes. Each node transmits a packet through the link when counting from a back-off interval reaches a predetermined transmission time. The back-off interval for each packet is based on at least a start tag of the packet, which is assigned to the packet when it arrives at or within the node for transmission over the link, such as at a controller (e.g., a medium-access controller, or MAC) of the node.

    摘要: Spatial backoff methods allow source stations to search for appropriate carrier sense threshold and transmission rate operating points to improve network aggregate throughput. In one method, each source station performs a search process to find the best carrier sense threshold and transmission rate, based on a defined utility function. In a second method, each source station dynamically adjusts its carrier sense threshold and transmission rate upon successful transmissions or failures, based on some heuristic measures. Spatial backoff methods may lead to gains in performance.
