Abstract:
Aliphatic triepoxides derived from the condensation of an aliphatic triol with an epihalohydrin function as highly reactive diluents in compositions comprised of tars, diepoxides, and curing agents, and which triepoxide diluents permit the use of a major proportion of tar in the compositions without adversely affecting the physical properties of the resultant compositions.
Abstract:
Frames for electrolytic cells of the filter-press type are provided which comprises a lower zone provided for receiving an anode or a cathode, and an upper zone in the form of a closed box, for ensuring separation of the gases produced by electrolysis from the electrolyte, the upper zone extending said lower zone, the lower zone communicating with the upper zone by way of one or more apertures in the lower part of said box, the sealing means ensuring sealing of the cells being applies over the periphery of the lower zone.
Abstract:
COMPOSITE MATERIALS HAVING IMPROVED RESILIENCE COMPRISING A CONTINUOUS PHASE OR MATRIX AND REINFORCING MEANS CONTIGUOUS TO AND FIRMLY BONDED TO THE MATRIX, SAID REINFORCING MEANS COMPRISING CARBON FIBERS WHICH HAVE BEEN SIZED WITH ELASTOMER-TYPE EPOXY RESINS.
Abstract:
A PROCESS FOR REMOVING HAIR OR FUR FROM ANIMALS HIDED ULTILIZING ENZYMES WHICH ARE IMMIBLIZED ON AN INSOLUBLE CARRIER IN THE FORM OF A POWER OR GEL,. IMMOBLIZATION OF THE ENZYME LIMITS THE PROTEOLYTIC ACTIVITY TO SURFACE PROTEINS WHICH BOND THE HAIR TO THE EPIDERMIS.
Abstract:
A COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF FOAM PRODUCTS OF VINYL RESINS IN WHICH THE VINYL RESIN IN PARTICULATE FORM HAS ABSORBED THEREON A COMPOUND IN THE FORM OF AN ALKALI METAL ALKYLSULPHATE OR MIXTURE THEREOF WITH AN ALKANOLAMINE ALKYLSULPHATE OR ADMIXTURES THEREOF WITH ONE OF THE COMPOUNDS SUCH AS AN ALKYLENE OXIDE CONDENSATE OF AN ALCOHOL OR PHENOL AND AN ALKANOLAMIDE WHEREIN THE VINYL ESINOUS PARTICLES WITH THE COMPOUNDS ABSORBED THEREON ARE FORMED INTO A PLASTISOL WHICH IS FOAMED BY PHYSICAL BEATING OR WHIPPING AND THEN HEATED IN THE FORM DESIRED TO PRODUCE THE FOAM PRODUCT.
Abstract:
An artificial underwater habitat for crustacea comprising a plurality of tubular elements for a thermoplastic material having a density of 1.2 to 2, with the tubular elements having a flattened portion while allowing free flow of water therethrough.
Abstract:
Method of treating residues from the distillation of phthalic anhydride, avoiding pollution of the atmosphere and the zones for the discharge of such residues, and permitting easy handling of said residues. The method comprises drawing off a certain amount of the bottoms from the distillation column, subjecting the product drawn off to a thin layer evaporation operation, and spraying water onto the stream of the heavy fraction which flows away after said evaporation operation, and then collecting the product in water which is thus cooled and granulated.
Abstract:
The production of phosphoric acid and calcium sulphate by reacting calcium phosphate and sulphuric acid in a continuous operation in a plurality of successively arranged reaction zones with the calcium phosphate and sulphuric acid distributed between the zones, filtering the slurry from each reaction zone and washing the filtered solids with water, returning the major portion of the acidified wash water into the first reaction zone and introducing the filtrate from each reaction zone to the succeeding reaction zone so that the P2O5 concentration increases in the succeeding reaction zones, and then collecting and removing the phosphoric acid product from the last reaction zone.
Abstract:
A method for the simultaneous production of organic acid chloride and unsaturated hydrocarbons by heating in the presence of a Lewis acid as a catalyst, of a ketone having the general formula: R1R2R3C - CO - CHR4R5 with a trichloromethylated hydrocarbon having a double bond in the alpha position and represented by the general formula R - C Cl3 in which R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are identical or different from each other, are atoms of hydrogen, halogens F, Cl or Br, C1 to C3 alkyl groups which may possibly be substituted by atoms of halogens F, Cl and/or Br, or C6 or C10 aryl groups which may possibly be substituted by C1 to C3 alkyl groups and/or atoms of halogens F, Cl and/or Br; and R represents a C6 or C10 aromatic hydrocarbon residue which is unsubstituted, or which is substituted by at least a C1 to C3 alkyl group and/or at least a halogen atom F, Cl or Br; or an alkenyl group having the formula: XY CZ , in which X, Y and Z are identical to or different from each other and represent atoms of hydrogen, halogen F, Cl and/or Br, C1 to C3 alkyl groups or C1 to C3 alkyl groups which are substituted by at least a halogen atom F, Cl or Br.
Abstract:
