Abstract:
A milling unit of a book binding device removes a coating material adhered to cutting surfaces of coating sheets. A book binding device binding a bunch of sheets fed from a sheet aligning unit includes a sheet aligning plate aligning a section of the bunch of sheets fed from the sheet aligning unit; a gripper fixing the bunch of sheets aligned by the sheet aligning plate; an adhesive unit feeding an adhesive member to the section of the bunch of sheets to bind the bunch of sheets; and a milling unit milling the section of the bunch of sheets before the bunch of sheets is subjected to binding by the adhesive unit.
Abstract:
Disclosed are structure for inlaying precious metal in and outer peripheral surface of a ring and method for manufacturing a ring inlaid with precious metal in an outer peripheral surface. The ring includes a annular blank obtained by compressing a powdered mixture including 80 to 85 weight percent of tungsten carbide in a mold by means of a hydraulic press, and a precious metal inlaid in an outer peripheral surface of the annular blank after sintering the annular blank. An annular groove is formed at an outer peripheral surface of the annular blank, in which the annular groove is defined by sidewalls, which are inwardly inclined in a downward direction, and a bottom wall. Inclined slots having a gradient identical to that of the inclined sidewalls are formed at both lower edge portions of the annular groove, in which the lower edge potions are defined between the bottom wall and the inclined sidewalls. The precious metal is inlaid in the annular groove and the inclined slots in such a manner that an upper surface of the precious metal and the outer peripheral surface of the annular blank is the same level.
Abstract:
It is an object of the present invention to provide a protein crystal detection method, protein crystal detection apparatus, and protein crystal detection program with which protein crystals can be efficiently detected at a high reliability. To detect protein crystals with the present invention, an observed image obtained by observing a protein solution during crystallization by the vapor diffusion method is differentiated to give a differentiated image constituted by brightness change information indicating how much brightness has changed. Noise then is eliminated from this differentiated image, after which the differentiated image is binarized at a threshold for extracting a characterizing portion, which gives a binarized image in which the portion exhibiting a large change in brightness is left behind as the characterizing portion. Crystallization is evaluated by determining whether or not there are protein crystals from this characterizing portion of the binarized image. Thus, protein crystal detection, which up to now has relied exclusively on visual observation by observers, can be carried out efficiently with high reliability.
Abstract:
Aerodynamic forces contribute to disk and actuator vibration leading to track positioning errors in storage devices such as hard disk drives. The invention provides a variety of dampening mechanisms and a method of dampening to alleviate these problems.
Abstract:
A noise damping device of a rotation driving apparatus includes a housing; and at least one rotating disk installed to be rotated by a driving source within the housing. The rotating disk and the housing are assembled to satisfy the following Equation &dgr;m
Abstract:
A polygonal mirror assembly is provided with a vibration absorption. The polygonal mirror assembly includes a motor and a polygonal mirror rotatably installed around the rotation shaft of the motor. The polygonal mirror is provided with a plurality of reflective facets. The vibration absorption device is provided for absorbing rotational vibration due to the eccentric mass of the polygonal mirror, by elastically moving in the radial direction of the polygonal mirror. Therefore, the linearity of a scan line scanned from the laser scanning unit to the photoreceptor medium can be maintained.

Provided is an air-conditioning apparatus for a vehicle based on heat storage and cold storage. The apparatus includes a coolant supply unit supplying a first coolant circulating within a vehicle, a cooling unit repeatedly performing a cooling cycle using a refrigerant circulating though a first flow pipe unit, a hot/cold accumulation unit storing a second coolant of a preset capacity and communicating with the coolant supply unit through second flow pipe units, wherein the temperature of the second coolant is converted into a temperature capable of heating and accumulated in the hot/cold accumulation unit, the evaporator of the cooling unit is disposed within the hot/cold accumulation unit, and the temperature of the second coolant is converted into a temperature capable of cooling and accumulated in the hot/cold accumulation unit during the cooling cycle.
Abstract:
A noise damping device for a rotating body and a disk player is disclosed. The noise damping device for a rotating body is characterized in that inner surfaces of a housing in which the rotating body is installed are provided with an intaglio and/or cameo pattern of a predetermined shape. The pattern guides the air flow within the housing smoothly, and damps noise. Also, the noise damping device for a disk player is characterized in that an intaglio and/or cameo pattern of a predetermined shape is formed on surfaces of a disk tray and/or a clamping member.

Disclosed is a method for generating a motion search area of a video CODEC for implementing motion compensation through motion estimation as a unit of block. Compression efficiency can be further improved by additionally creating various reference frames by an intentional motion blur and a deblur filter, filtering a motion search area using a motion blur filter and a motion deblur filter as a unit of block which is a unit of video coding, and selecting reference frame having small residual frame data during execution of the motion estimation as final reference frames among original reference frames and various reference frames (motion search areas) additionally created.
