摘要: A multi-colored organic EL device for a flat display includes a transparent substrate, a plurality of phosphor layers arranged on a surface of the substrate as a color conversion filter, a protective layer flatly coated on the phosphor layers, and an organic EL cell formed directly on the protective layer. The protective layer is formed of a coating resin having a curing temperature not to cause deterioration in the fluorescence of the phosphor layers, a glass transition temperature more than 100° C., and surface hardness more than 2H on the pencil hardness. The organic EL cell includes a light-emitting layer for emitting light when carriers are injected therein. The protective layer keeps the phosphor layers intact and can coat flatly over uneven phosphor layers. The protective layer prevents effects of post-coating processes on the phosphor layers, and allows direct formation of the organic EL cell on the protective layer.

摘要: A functional laminate film protects a color conversion filter and an organic electroluminescent element from mutual contamination during manufacture and use. The functional laminate film includes a transparent base film, a coupling layer and a hard coat layer. The coupling layer is bonded to the color conversion filter to present a flat surface with substantial reduction in optical defects. The hard coat layer is hard enough to withstand the formation of the organic electroluminescent element on its upper surface. The hard coat layer also acts as a barrier to prevent chemical species from the fluorescent materials within the color conversion filter from adversely affecting the organic electroluminescent element during manufacture and operation, and vice versa. The result is an improved polychromatic electroluminescent device composed of the organic electroluminescent element, the functional laminate film and the color conversion filter. The device has a greatly improved angle of visibility, high quality output and extended usable life.

摘要: An erasable optical information recording medium has a transparent substrate, and a recording layer supported by the substrate. The recording layer includes a thin film of at least one polydiacetylene having side chains. The polydiacetylene is capable of undergoing a reversible planar-nonplanar transition of the main chain structure of the polydiacetylene due to a conformational change of the side chains produced by irradiation of light. When the recording layer is irradiated with light, the reversible planar-nonplanar transition occurs at the irradiated portions to cause a corresponding change of optical properties of the recording layer, thereby recording information thereinto and erasing information therefrom.

摘要: A method of forming a colored and/or electrically conductive coating layer on a glass sheet by applying a paint containing an inorganic pigment and/or a metal powder together with a powdered glass frit and an organic liquid binder onto the glass sheet, by screen-printing for instance, so as to form a paint layer on the glass sheet surface, rendering the paint layer hard and untacky and thereafter firing the paint-applied glass sheet so as to melt the glass frit contained in the paint. The organic liquid binder comprises at least one acrylate which is selected from monofunctional acrylates and bifunctional acrylates and is polymerizable by radiation of ultraviolet rays. Hardening of the paint layer is accomplished by ultraviolet radiation of very short duration, and the polymerized acrylate can be completely burnt out at the firing step without leaving unburnt carbon which is detrimental to the coating layer.
