摘要: An optical information recording medium 10 comprises a plurality of recording layers 14 and intermediate layers 15 each provided between the recording layers 14. Each of the recording layers 14 includes a polymer binder and dye dispersed in the polymer binder, and a thickness of each recording layer is equal to or greater than 50 nm. A first interface (near-side interface 18) is formed between a recording layer 14 and an intermediate layer 15 that is adjacent to the recording layer 14 on one side of the recording layer 14 in a thickness direction of the recording layer 14, and a second interface (far-side interface 19) is formed between the recording layer 14 and an intermediate layer 15 that is adjacent to the recording layer 14 on the other side of the recording layer 14 in the thickness direction of the recording layer 14. When the dye is irradiated with a recording beam and generates heat by absorption of the recording beam, the polymer binder undergoes a change in shape by the generated heat, so that at least one of the first interface and the second interface undergoes a change in shape and sticks out toward the intermediate layer 15 to form a protrusion, whereby information is recorded in the optical information recording medium 10.

摘要: The present invention is in the field of optical recording media, and is directed to an optical recording medium which comprises the following layers;a) a grooved transparent substrate (1), superposed byb) a recording layer comprising a partial mirror (2) of a material having a high complex index of refraction which is not within the pentagon defined by the vertices 7.15 - i3.93, 7.15 - i5.85, 8.96 - 6.28, 9.56 - i5.90, and 8.14 - i3.77 in the n,k plane, superposed by a buffer layer (3) comprising a nonliquid-crystalline high-molecular weight material and optionally a dye, superposed by a thick reflective layer (4), together forming a Fabry-Perot wherein the thickness (d) of the buffer layer within the grooves is set so that the reflection of the medium is in the high reflective state, optionally superposed byc) a protective coating (5).By virtue of the partial mirror, the buffer layer, and the thick reflective layer a Fabry-Perot etalon is created. Information can be written by deformation of one or more of the partial mirror, the buffer layer, the thick reflective layer, or the substrate. The deformation effects change or destroy the Fabry-Perot, and a decrease in reflection is created. As deformation effects are used for writing, a non-liquid crystalline high-molecular weight material can be used in the buffer layer. The tracking (keeping the writing laser within the grooves) can take place by employing the difference in reflected amplitude or phase of the partial mirror/substrate interface within and outside the groove.

摘要: An information recording layer on a substrate provides a method of recording information by selectively opening the rings of dicyclopentadiene skeletons, thus recording information by forming cyclopentadiene skeletons. The information recorded by the method can be erased by the cycloaddition of cyclopentadiene skeletons. Information can also be recorded or erased by incorporating or eliminating a metal ion from a selectively opened section of a ring of a dicyclopentadiene skeleton after forming an organic thin film comprising the dicyclopentadiene skeleton. Alternatively, after the formation of an organic thin film comprising a cyclopentadiene skeleton, a heterocycle or a benzene ring, a metal ion is incorporated or eliminated from a section between at least two rings of the cyclopentadiene skeleton, the heterocycle or the benzene ring. Thereafter, a metallocene skeleton or a skeleton analogous to the metallocene skeleton is formed or eliminated, thus recording or erasing information. The selective opening of a section of a dicyclopentadiene skeleton ring is carried out by heat or light. The readout of the information is performed by recognizing the cyclopentadiene skeleton, the metallocene skeleton, the skeleton analogous to the metallocene skeleton or the metal atom. The information recording layer of the invention is a chemically adsorbed monomolecular film with a thickness at the angstrom

摘要: Phase-change type, reversible optical information recording medium, being possible for recording, reproducing, erasing, and rewriting of information, by use of a laser beam. This invention consists of recording thin film of ternary elements, for example, containing Ge, Te, Sb/or Bi or quaternary elements containing the fourth element of Se with which a part of Te is replaced, which is established on such surface-flat substrates as glass or plastics. In this case, the component ratio of Te and Se is selected not to be excess for other elements, such as Ge, Sb/or Bi so as to be fixed as stable compounds of stoichiometric compositions of GeTe, Sb.sub.2 Te.sub.3 /or Bi.sub.2 Te.sub.3, or GeSe, Sb.sub.2 Se.sub.3 /Bi.sub.2 Se.sub.3 when crystallized. Strictly speaking, a concentration of each component is selected to have proper ratio of the number of atomes each other so as to represent whole composition as the sum of each component. By this treatment, it is possible to have high crystallization speed and long cyclability of recording/erasing. The effect of Se is to increase the viscosity of the system and to make easily to obtain amorphous state; and moreover, by selecting of proper amount displaced with Te, it is possible to obtain the composition of recoding film superior in both characteristics of recording (amorphization) and erasing (crystallization).
